Powdercoating question.. for those who know.

I don't see why not, all they would have to do is sand blast the black off although its more labor. You could just find that style in polished aluminum and save a process step.
 
Yeah find yourself a good powder coating company, like these guys http://www.afipowder.com/powder_coating.htm ask for Bill. I dont where you live but I am sure these guys would do you a awesome job. I have had several pieces of my Jaguar done by them and they know what they are doing. Look them up and or someone locally like them in and around you.

OK, but what kind of things would a person who isn't familiar with powdercoating finishes look for?

I assume the same things as with paint - shine, orange peel, smoothness, etc.?

My wheels are getting done soon, and I've seen a few demo's in this guy's 'showroom', and they look OK I guess. My questioning is done to be the Devil's advocate only :).

Be sure they warranty on cracking or chipping (in flakes) not hard impact (curb) chips :D I've had some of my other trucks' frames and parts done, many had various warranties on types of applications done.
