Well i have been browsing here for a while... I tried searching and reading but I am still not getting the info that I would like.

I think we should start a sticky for all the mark viii owners out there (not yet for me but soon)

Lets start a list of all the poweradders and how
E.G.

The Vortec where you have to get the cobra intake tube or the Kenne Bell where you have to delete the IMRC's on the Gen 1... ya know stuff like that!

Also talk about where the TURBO scene is at! Thats where I am really interested. I have been trying to hammer down some solid info.
What Size?
Where the hell are putting it?
One or Two?
Where are you getting the manifolds?
What about the K-member?
Where is the exhaust being routed?

Stuff like this should be readily available for current and potential mark owners don't ya think???

So in summary add to this thread about either a current, potential or ongoing set-up that involves a SUPERCHARGER, TURBO, or NITROUS...
Please be as specific as possible with pics if ya got em and I think this could end up being really valuable...

Well I am going to step off my soap box now... thanks for your time

Oh and remember the veterans this Friday!!!!

Trouble is, there is no one way. There are numerous combinations of things. You dont just slap on a vortech and start running 10s. And if you try, the rest of your drivetrain is likely to be strewn across the track after a few runs.

what do you want us to do about it? mods are a pretty basic thing, if you have ANY mechanical ability you should be able to figure it out.

I agree with you, JC, but I can also see Stack's point. It would be nice to have a thread devoted to mods and power upgrades, so as to condense all the info together.

The problem with that is that half this entire forum is full of mods/power adder ideas, and the other half deals with repairs. It's like asking to put half the thread under one sticky and asking everyone who's already posted their experiences to post again.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, Stack, but really, that's what the search engine is for.

I have an idea for you, Stack: Why don't you put together a thread with info gleaned from the search engine about different topics. Start piecing together the info you're talking about and maybe everyone else will follow suit, and then maybe Joey will make it into a sticky.

Alright guys.... I will piece everything I can together about adding Superchargers, Turbos and nitrous into one concise document and we will see where it goes...

I just thought this would help everyone by having one place to see what can be done.

Until my return!!!!

yeah, i like the idea. With the mark, new people dont realy know what can be done to them(for the most part) Mabey if we had a stickey, people that might be interested in the cars could become more interested in em by seeing just what can be done. I think it should go for aftermarket stuff, and custom stuff to...not just power adders. If u just have one on power adders as a bolt on, ull just wind up with NOS, cuz if u wanted a sc/tc youll need to do a little more than just bolt it up. otherwise ull blow it up.

start by listing stuff u can find at LMS and SCP.

Don't worry guys. Joey and I are busy plotting. 1st we agree to agree and then we agree on what will be done. It is happening. Personally, I can't wait. This is something I have been thinking about for a long time.

This won't be a referral forum. More hardcore.

What Monstermark and I have been talking about is this:

A Lincoln High Performance Forum. Maybe more then one for different models, I dont know. (ie Lincoln Mark VIII Performance, Lincoln LS Performance, etc)

This forum would be restricted to serious high performance discussion only and would be moderated more then maybe the other forums.

I would be looking for topics such as
  • Doing an engine build up
  • Installing nitro
  • Installing a vortech
  • Swapping out Cobra Heads and upgrading to stage I cams

What would not be allowed would be things like:

  • How do I make my car fast?
  • What gears should I install?
  • WOW thats Cool!

Point being- this would be for SERIOUS performance discussion only.

Thats my rough thoughts right now - commentary?

LVC's SERIOUS PERFORMANCE FORUM!

HOTTIES! That is excellant! Now I won't be asking all those "what won't be posted"!

SERIOUSLY HOT IDEA....even HOTTER reading you guys playin' nice and making it happen ;) !!!

I've read several of the tech articles in LVC dont think there's a one of ya that hasn't helped me out! I know it will make for a nice new editioin to LVC!

GOOD JOB HOTTIES!!!!!!

Stack, I'd be on happy LVC HOTTIE if you'd slap a pic of you in Guys thread, url is under my signature....just click.

Well - this wouldnt be articles or stickys or a FAQ - it would just be a forum designated for ONLY High Performance Discussion -

Hell yeah... This is going to be great but until then I will be collecting allthe information I can on serious modifications to the Mark VIII so I will have something to speak to when this kicks off!

Way to go Administrators and mods!!!!

:D

Another addition to the list - Places to get the parts? -

Obviously we have Geno but he doesn't have everything although he can get it.
The Forum will contain a sub-forum for that stuff. Emphasis in this forum is on the go-fast goodies and how to do it so we can get some more killer Marks rolling around the country.

I was wondering since the forum is going to be elite performance, LVC's best giving up their best information, research and work on modificatins, etc...will only LVC Gold members have access?

Thanks Bryan,

This is a kit that is for the mustang, both sohc and dohc models. Its pretty pricey and is also a twin turbo setup, which personally, I would stay away from.
http://turbochargedpower.com/96-04 Mustang.htm

I know that in the 5.0 mustangs the headers can be bolted on with the collector facing forward. In other words, you can put the driver side on on the passenger side and vica-versa. This makes perfect turbo manifolds, especially if you either cant machine your own or are on a budget.

My friend that recently turboed his 5.0 mustang went this route, and mounted his turbo right where our airbox/MAF sensor are located. His intercooler was the type with an inlet on one end and outlet on the other, which proved to be a harder way to get the job done in his case. He had to run the piping from the turbo all of the way across the engine bay to get to the inlet.

Once you figure out where you are going to run your IC piping, I think the hardest part of the mounting a turbo in the location of the airbox would be getting a downpipe out of the engine bay. I havent looked out under my hood lately trying to find a way, but there are only two options I can think of. Over the head and down the firewall(I cant recall how much clearance is there) or under the ex manifold, who knows how much clearance would be there either.

Any way you want to do it, turbocharging a mark viii can be done. But, either you or someone you know is going to have to be able to do a little welding/fabricating to complete the task. All it comes down to is how creative you are.

The High Performance forums are up - Only Lincoln Mark VIII and Lincoln LS for now - Ill add more as the need arises

Take a look...

as a matter of fact, i was outside yesterday doing measurments to fit a turbo on this bad boy.
its not going to be easy, but the payoff is going to be great!
