this is my first post. been having trouble with overheating on 03 ls v8 . read past posts for the past week and learned a lot about my car, thanks to everyone. I bought this car new and I wish I had learned about this site about seven years ago. My car is like all the other ls's out there, its had overheating problems several times in the past 8 years. car has 147,000 miles on it. I have tried to do my own maintenence on it and always before I could get the overheating to stop, untill now. In the past six monthi have replaced the waterpump, thermostat, both halves of the theromstat housing, the plastic pipe coming up from the center of engine, flushed the system and bled numerious times. So my next step was to buy a harbour freight cooling system pressure tester. at first it looked like it was well made but it has a quick disconnect that leaked soI bypassed it. My question is: how long should it hold the 15 lbs pressure to be acceptable? it has dropped from 15 to 10 lbs in about 20 minutes. I think the tester is ok, I sprayed soap around all the connection points and dont see any bubbles.
