Hello All:

I'm new to the site and recently aquired a 2000 Continental, black on black fully loaded with only 42,000 miles. I've been very impressed with this car and wish I'd committed to one sooner. I like the luxury of the car, however, I'm a little inclined to do spirited driving at times. I have a few questions regarding oil changes, tune up parts, filters (oil, air & fuel) & exhaust. What is the recommended/preferred brands that will work fine for this vehicle? Also, I realize this vehicle is front wheel driven, but how much can one expect to gain above the standard 275 hp without a major modification? I would like to achieve about 300 hp if possible. I would appreciate any insight/experiences that can be shared to help me reach my goal.

Thanks,
Lando

I use Royal Purple Oil in my 1998 Lincoln Continental - I add a Bottle of Lucas Oil Treatment to the oil as well. K&N Air Filter. I also like to use the Lucas Transmission Treatment and Fuel Treatment. Not knowing the history of the vehicle, you might want to flush the coolant and transmission fluid. (Mercon V)

As far as HP, I would suggest you talk with Geno at Lincoln Motorsport about a Cold Air intake (which uses a K&N Conical Air Filter) and a cat back exhaust. I would imagine you would go over 300 HP.

Also, you might want to consider changing your O2 sensors before long. As time goes on, they become less effective, and changing them would probably increase performance and gas mileage.
