Abstract
Despite the mainstream news media's silence regarding this matter, an increasing number of Americans are concerned that Barack Obama might not be eligible, under the Constitution, to serve as President.

According to the U.S. Constitution, an individual born after 1787 cannot legally or legitimately serve as U.S. President unless he or she is a "natural born citizen" of the United States.

Among members of Congress and the mainstream news media, the consensus of opinion is that anyone born in the United States is a "natural born citizen". However, when we researched this issue a bit more carefully, we found that the consensus opinion is not consistent with American history.

In Minor v. Happersett (1874), the Supreme Court said that, if you were born in the United States and both of your parents were U.S. citizens at the time of your birth, you are, without doubt, a natural born citizen. In the same case, the Supreme Court also said that, if you were born in the United States and one of your parents was not a U.S. citizen when you were born, your natural born citizenship is in doubt. So far, the Supreme Court has not resolved this doubt because, until now, there has never been any need to do so.

With only two exceptions, every American President, who was born after 1787, was born in the United States, to parents who were both U.S. citizens. The two exceptions were Chester Arthur and Barack Obama. When Chester Arthur ran for office, the public did not know about his eligibility problem. Only recently did historians learn that, when Arthur was born, his father was not a U.S. citizen. The 2008 election was the first time in history that the United States knowingly elected a President who was born after 1787 and whose parents were not both U.S. citizens.

Barack Obama publicly admits that his father was not a U.S. citizen. According to Minor v. Happersett, there is unresolved doubt as to whether the child of a non-citizen parent is a natural born citizen. This doubt is not based on the imaginings of some tin-foil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorists on the lunatic fringe of society. This doubt comes from what the Supreme Court has actually said, as well as a variety of other historical and legal sources which are presented and discussed here.

This Primer introduces and explains the Obama Eligibility Controversy, in question-and-answer format, for a non-technical general audience. We've double-checked the facts presented here, and we've cited the sources of each fact.

By the time this is resolved,(if ever) he will have already served his 4 year term, and perhaps eight.
What do we do if after his term(s) are finished, and we find he had no right being president.
Do we hang hin from the nearest balcony?
You seriously need to give this vendetta a rest.
Bob.

"Vendetta?"

If you think there is a violation of the constitution here, you should be expected to follow through on it. It has nothing to do with a "vendetta" nor does it have anything to do with punishment.

If you establish a country of laws, you have to respect them.

And you can't pursue an issue like this on ideological reasons either. It's a matter of principle.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has telegraphed several times that they have no interest in challenging the public opinion on controversial issues that may be unconstitutional. The recent Chrysler bankruptcy issue comes to mind.

I'd settle for reversing every single executive order and bill he signed into law.

Its funny 8 years ago they were ready to tar and feather Bush because of some questionable votes. Now we vote In a president who no one knows from where he comes, hasn't produced any kind of birth certificate, and it hasn't even been mentioned by the media.

Do we hang hin from the nearest balcony?.
I guess I'll pass on that racist connotation you just tossed out there and ask this....

How's Obama working out for you? You were the one that wanted to give him a chance. Well, how's he working out for you?

That is where we are headed for sure. The next Republican President in 2012 will by Executive Order wipe the slate clean of all the usurper did to take down this country. The financial markets will be sold back to the private sector, a private partnership will take over government motors and people will begin getting their jobs back.

I didn't see it as a racist remark.
Seems in the not too distant past one other leader that the people didn't care for was hung.
Does the name Sadam ring a bell?
Do you think that hanging was also racist?.
As for giving Obama a chance, he has had it, and muffed it badly.
I think we have not seen the worst yet.
Two things I feel will be his downfall are, his outragous health care plan, and his "amnesty" for illegal immigrants.
One does not have to look any further than the illegal population in this country to see where much of the exploding cost in health care is going.
Here in California, billions are spent yearly on health care for illegals.
I haver yet to hear one politician (especially our beloved governor) say one word about the amount of money illegals are costing this state, as well as the rest of the country.
Obama will give these miserable law breaking Bastards a free ticket to stay in the country and I don't think most Americans share his views on immigration.
Bob.
