problem with door need HELP

hey guys when i shut my door it shuts... but the comp dont no that. it keeps sayin its still ajar...... wtf can i do or how to figure it out. any suggestions thanks

It's a VERY common problem. I hit the latch with some silicon spray afterwards as well.

replace the door ajar switch on the bottom of the latch assembly, might have to unbolt the latch from the door, may have enough room without unbolting it, cant remember... it will have a two wire connector going to it, should cost approx $20-25 at ford dealer... they get dust in them and stick, new part is "updated"...

hey you might also wana get some silicone spray and spray it on there
becouse
it will probly come back chances are 20%
but the silicone spray will stop it

You do not have to replace the door ajar switch. If the WD-40 fixed it you will be fine. What the problem is is that the pin for the switch is SO small that any kind of debris keeps it from sliding into the hole/slot in the mechanism and it in turn gives you the 'door ajar' alarm and sometimes leaves the lights on in the interior. Spraying WD-40 into the mechanism loosens up the debris that builds up on the pin and allows it to slide into the hole/slot in the mechanism clearing your 'door ajar' alarm. So, you do not need to replace anything. If the WD-40 did not fix the problem, then you should replace the switch. :Beer

you lucky your problem is fixed mine isnt lol it worked on 3 of the 4 doors but my door ajar isnt the probly my lights dont even come on when i open the door my switch is friend i think
