This weekend I finished my Jmod. It was a lot of fun, got a shower with transmission oil because the pan stuck on one side and split some oil on my hairs. ;-) And I overfilled it in first; was filling it up with 10 quarts Mercon V until I noticed that transmission oil come out on the top of the tranny. As I noticed it was the overflow vent. I forgot to turn the engine on after 6 quarts so the oil wasn't able to go into the torque converter.

Nevermind. To come to the problem: I wanted to drill the holes into the separator plate as described (for mild setting) on the TCCOA website. Unfortunately hole 9 and 11 where bigger than 0.081" so I wasn't able to drill it. Will this cause any problem? I didn't measure them, but hole 9 was bigger than hole 11.

I think I had a bad day. Never had so many problems with repairing a car. :)

EDIT: It's a 1997 Lincoln Mark 8 with a pre-1998 transmission. When they didn't replace the transmission it must also be a 1997 transmission. ;-)

Those holes are for the 4-3 downshift. If they are already larger than 0.081" on your separator plate, then you're good to go.

Mhm ok. That brings me to the question why my separator plate has bigger hole sizes for hole #9 and #11. Isn't it a 1997 transmission?

You'd have to tell us.

This...

...isn't particularly clear.

Well I think it is a 1997 transmission, it's just a little bit confusing because the drilling holes are far away from 0.081". Very strange.

I drove it today some kilometers - it shifts ok, but I was expecting more power. :)

In my opinion my Buick Park Avenue has a much better gas acceptance. The Mark VIII drives like a tank; don't misunderstand me - It drives good but I think it feels more ponderous.

Maybe I need a little settling-in period.

Making changes to the valvebody will not effect the power output of the engine.
