Hi i purchased a 91 mark vii last week some time and it has a cam not exactly sure on the specs and it has 3.55 gears with posi.

ok so to try to explain this.
in first gear it will not shift until at least 3700 rpms and will not come out of second until 3500 rpms and hasn't came out of third once i have been up to 80mph at 3700 rpms and still hasn't came out of third and when i floor it it will not kickdown out of third gear at wot only comes out of third when it slows down to 40 and it is back to driving around at 3000 rpms again.

i already changed fluid and filter but would appreciate all other info or experience. thanks

For what it's worth, the shop manuals diagnostics regarding delayed upshifts and no-upshifts, mushy upshifting, slipping, etc. from one gear to another almost all target a problem with the throttle linkage.. be it misadjusted, misalligned, bent, sticking... a worn TV bushing is notorious.... so chances are heavily in favor of a linkage-related fix.

There are also several internal transmission problems that might be responsible (valves burnt, clutch and converter troubles, etc) but diagnosing these is pretty much a job for a tranny shop.

ok the tranny shop says the linkage isnt even connected that the cable needs to be replaced. does anyone know where i can find one. tried fords and autozone no one has them. any help would be appreciated. thanks

I get almost all my parts from local autowreckers and it's the first place I look.
A yard might let me go get the parts i want.. might not.

Your bio says "Temperance" .. KY or Michigan i suppose. Google "auto wrecker Kentucky" and a bunch of names and web pages will show up.
There are also a few associations of wreckers that dismantle cars, pick parts and send specific customer requested parts back and forth between themselves.

no they said it is completly defective and i need the cable. disconected at the trans not at the throttle body. do you know how long the cable is or where i can buy the right length cable with the right conections on it. there are some on ebay but they say kickdown cable are they the same thing? thanks
