Hello I'm new to this site and car. I have a 2000 LS V8 Sports package with 78,000 on it. While I'm crusing in 5th gear I get a studder that will not clear up till I give it more throttle. I put the car on a scanner and I had a missfire in cylinder 1. Pulled cylinder one coil on and there was no problems, plug also looked good. Checked the tranz fluid and that also looked in good shape. The check engine light has not come back on but I still get the problem with the car studdering in 5th gear while crusing. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Check for leaking valve cover gaskets. Oil will pool around the spark plugs. This causes the coils to go. Also, the stuttering I had went away after the coils and valve cover gaskets were replaced.

I did not see any oil leaking frtom the valve covers or the seal around the plugs

I have replaced 3 coils between my 2 LSs and 2 of them were dry. The coils just go bad. It is probably a manufacturing issue, IMO. You may want to swap that coil out and see if it solves your problem, but it could still be something else. Good luck and report back on your findings!
