Programing the key fob for a 2002 V8 Sport.

Ok, so I bought some replacement remotes from eBay for my LS. (Lost mine) I found instructions on line on how to get the LS into "program mode". (With all doors closed and locked, cycle the ignition from on to off 6 time finishing the last cycle in the on position) I Tried it, doesn't work. Any tips?

You can't do it that way for gen I. You need a really good scan tool ($$) or you'll have to go to a dealer and get them to do it.

Once again - This works for gen II (2003-2006). It does not work for gen I (2000-2002).

Drag is talking about fobs. Key procedure only takes one cycle, not 8. Gen One fobs are not user programmable. Keys are if you have two working keys

Thanks Joegr. I figured that would be the case. Just didn't want to go to the dealer and later find that I was just missing on simple step.
