pulled codes 41 & 91

Hi everyone! Hope all's well in Lincolnland. My '87 BB is stalling occasionally at idle, usually when; a)releasing the throttle, b)changing gears or c)at startup. This is not a new problem but I now have an intermittent check engine light so i scanned and got code 41 & 91 (lean condition). This would also explain the profound pinging I hear while accelerating (sounds like a diesel). What would be the most likely cause of this? EGR stuck open? O2 sensor? Wondering where to start. By the way, this car performed fantastically through a long hard winter. I am impressed!

It could be the O2 sensors. Have you tried the KOER test?

I have indeed. I was under the impression that was the test that produced those codes unless i misunderstood. I am still a novice with this tool. Thanks for getting back to me.

KOEO or KOER? Run both, report back.

Hi again! I ran both tests and those were the only codes stored. I also did cylinder balance test (pass). Thanks for getting back so quick.
