I have recently inherited a 89 Town Car from my grandmother who passed away in January. I have many memories of being in this car with her on trips and the music she use to play (Floyd Cramer) which was just as classy as her and the car. In recent years the car has sat for extended periods of time without any use, 5 years to be exact. Within this time moisture has done its job on the cassette deck and I need to swap it out for a CD/MP3 player this is where it gets good.... I myself at one time installed stereos for a local store and have never worked on a Town Car. I did all my usual home work by looking up harnesses and kits to know what I need, even went to a few big box chains to get there input (Best Buy and Circuit City) and all info said that my 93 Tbird and the Town Car use the same harness... WRONG!! The Town Car has Premium Sound and the Tbird does not (which I told that to both places, still no problem they say...WRONG!!) #1 Any one know what the proper harness is for the Town Car with premium sound. #2 If my JVC CD player is powered do I need to bypass the factory amp(s) for this to work or was BB and CC correct when they told me that it will work with the amp(s). Thanks for the help and I will have pics of this sweet ride with only 52,000 original engine miles car GOD I LOVE MY LAND YACHT!!!!!

Found the answer

I found the answer and the stereo works great with the premium sound amp. I recomend anyone who is installing a head unit into a 89 lincoln to visit your local stereo shop for assistance. Most big box stores only carry the newer car install kits. My local store called Horizon Audio saved my a** and a boat load of money. Now I'm in the process of cleaning the car to its old glory for some pics to post.
