So I need to buy a new compressor for my car. I called Max at 5 star, and he told that since 1994 when my car was made, ford upgraded the compressor a couple of times, and that the new compressor doesn't just install into my car in place of the 10PA17 compressor, it requires a whole new field assembly, pulley assembly, and disc and hub.

Now I found this compressor on ebay:

Would this be a direct replacement for my OEM compressor? Or is it the upraded compressor like the one available from ford?

Thanks guys.

IF that is the actual picture of the item being sold, it is NOT correct. If you notice there is 4 mounting tabs on that one, and there is actually only 3 mounting tabs on the one that is in the car. If you go to the pic that I posted in your cam/crank sensor post, this post actually. You will see that there is only 3 mounting tabs. I would email the person selling that compressor to see if that is the actual one that they are posting for the Mark. If so, then he has the wrong compressor.......or maybe I am just retarted....who knows..... :Beer

no, you are definitely right about that - I emailed them to ask them directly, but I get the feeling that taht is a generic photo they use in multiple auctions. I hope they email me back soon.

got an email back: "Sorry, we don't carry a compressor for your vehicle".

Yet they advertise it in their listing. Man.

Sorry man, but aren't you glad I noticed that? You could have gotten screwed! Looks like Max will be getting some business. :Beer
