I am about to order new tires for my 2005 Lincoln Navigator Ultimate and was wondering if a 285 / 65 R 18 tire would fit the stock rim ok. It has 255 / 70 R 18 on it now. I am planning on ordering these in a day or so and I want to get a performance tire not a all terrain or mud tire. The 255 tire is 10.039 inches wide and the 285 tire is 11.22 inches wide. So we are talking only 1.181 inches wider. Not much in my opinion. I think it will look good with these on it but want to make sure. This truck is a 2wd truck and will never be off road. I plan on making a Cobra/Gator out of it.
I am also wanting to know how hard it is to lower my gator. I have read that I can adjust the ride height sensors to lower it. how does this affect the truck? how does this affect the air ride system? Is it harmful to the system or truck?
Does anyone know of a reasonably priced cold air intake for this truck? What upgrades have any of you guys done to your Gators to help the performance / mileage?
I plan on adding a blower to it sometime in the future, but for right now I want to go this easier cheaper route. A cold air intake, programmer and what ever else will help with the power and MPG's.
