Ok here is the question of the day.

What MODS can be done for 1 thousand dollars that are quick and don't involve lifting the car or any thing that would need a mechanic and for those that are not UMMM let's say handy. <----- ok maybe i went too far with that one so forget i said it (the not handy part cuz you need know some things at least)?

You can do a cold air intake and chip, and Nology spark plug wires. All of this should be just under a grand and you can do it without lifting the car.

and I think thats about it. :) Everything else needs the car to be lifted. ie exhaust, torque converter, gears, etc.

I gotta a free and easy mod. Don't know if it's true and i haven't tried it yet, but it's worth a shot. Unhook the battery for 1 minute before you go down the track, then hook it back up. The computer remembers to run only WOT.

Exhaust, converter, shift kit, and a gear. Youd be rockin some low 14's with that setup.

Nitrous is also cheap and no lifting.

I thought about that but then i thought (BTW this was asked by 19yr old just got his hands on a 97 mark) "not a good idea for him to start out that fast since he looks too eager for the pedal if you know what I mean" so I didn't want to mention that power adder. I did tell him about LVC so he should be joining up within a couple of days if he remembers.

For a grand you can easily buy a jack and some jackstands.

Anyway I say spray it. Start off with something weak like a 50 shot.

Low 14's?

With just exahust alone you can get 14.30's and 40's in the 93-95 Gen 1's. With an already good running car, meaning good pump, filter and tune up.

My pick would be chip, maf kit, wires & plugs, crank pulley. Good safe proven mods and they are ALL lifetime warrantied except the plugs and pulley and your in under 1k at around $930.00. Great power adders that also increase mileage as well so it will pay for itself over time. You can install them ALL yourself in the driveway.

What's the mileage on the car ? If its 75k or over I would do a pump and filter too. Check the FP first under a load of course.

Mileage on the car is 158,xxx but the car looks like it was well kept even has service recipts that he pulled from the glove box that he didn't even know he had  Isn't funny how you all ways tend to find surprises after you by a used car

your thinking about when your running the code puller...but...you can also run WOT, by pushing the accelerator down.

id say gears, but youll be lookin at a few pennies more than 1k...and a little more work than you want. but imo its best bang for the buck.

Fresh plugs, wires working properly, fuel pump delivering up to par under a load, good fuel filter and an exhaust.

Heres some 14.60 14.70 and 80 reports from all over the country with DEAD STOCK Mark VIII's. 14.30's and 50's DEAD STOCK with JUST exhaust too. Ken Kropac (14.6@97mph here on the baord) also went into the 30's with just an exhaust.

and here make sure you read what Nightsky ran WITH JUST EXHAUST AND BONE STOCK!

Ok most those runs if not all were run at sea level and withs temps as low as 42 degrees so I believe you should be mentioning that to people. A stock lincoln thats been well maintained on an average day and in the midwest is likey to run a 14.8-15.3

Did you buy a chip, maf and exhaust? Pullies? Wires, plugs? That's what I priced, not gears and posi and other items so how is that getting bent over when your pricing totally different things?

I didn't have to mention those things, the threads I posted clearly state those things when you read them, there are MANY variables that make ANY car run good and or bad.

He was quoting Mr. Wilson.......................

He quoted "Hey Mr. Wilson" not what you suggested. Your suggestions were right on the money.

I know they post the variables but you really never do in threads its just "I know 20+ people who run 14.6 stock"

OK so what I thought would happen did happen. The kid put NOS in the car and decided to go out racing. He lost control of the car and by GOD KNOWS HOW came out with out a scratch all though the car was not that lucky. His whole rear end of the car has shifted and the car looks like it’s made for only left turns. How he managed to come out with out a scratch is a miracle because the car (from what he told me) spun 3 or 4 times and hit some kind of divider or something to that fact. He let me see a pic of the car and it looks like a V shape. Being curious as to how and when I asked the question of when he installed the NOS. he said that very same day (2days ago):slam . I told him he’s lucky the car didn’t blow up or something and to take it easy on the next car he buys and make sure he knows his car before being that stupid again.

When will these kids learn not to take power like this for granted? They all think they know it all!!!
