quick question

not starting it? of course the battery will die. and dopesnt the oile get bad sitting in the car for such al ong time not moving.

If you are going to let your car sit for that long make sure you stabilize the fuel. If you dont, it could "varinish" up on you and do wonders to your injectors.

Yeah, it's in Texas.

What do you guys recommend I do? Will starting the car, possibly taking it around the block once a week be enough?

Because I'll be in Europe from Jan-June.

And after that, assuming I wind up going to school in New York, I'll be leaving the car here. I'm starting to think buying it was rather pointless... haha

take the ls. it would be fun, no jk. just have a friend a very close friend drive it weekly.

Are you going to school in New York City? If that is the case, I would strongly consider selling the car as it will do you no good in the city. I have a few relatives from the New York area and aside from the traffic, accidents, thefts, etc there is nowhere to economically park (unless of course money is no option, than by all means take the car). The times I have been there, the quickest way to get around the city is on the subway or a cab. I'm sure others will chime in who actually live in that city, but im just giving you my opinion.

Im sure if you leave the car keys with a fellow LVC member in your area, they will make sure it will be driven while you are gone so MAJOR problems dont occur, hehe

I once garaged my LS for a whole winter w/o moving it and in the spring I had flat spots on the tires and had to get them all replaced. Depending on how soft the tires you have are, you may also want to put it up on jackstands, just a thought.

I personally use sta-bil fuel stablizer/BP 93 in my 67 E-Type Jaguar, also have a battery tender hooked up and I try to start it once a week and let it run for roughly 30mins-1hr. Havent had a probably in 3 winters with this methond.

Yea, you can garage a car for just about as long as you want but things like the gas stabilizer and what not are a must. Putting the car up on jack stands is not always good because if the springs and blah are not at about the same pressure when the car is sitting on the ground like normal you could ruin them.

Starting the car a couple of times a week for a few minutes is enough to let it go through its paces and would almost be like driving it.

If you have someone you really, really trust than I'd say tell them to take it out once or twice a week and keep an eye on things like regular maintance. But even the really trust-worthy people can/well do stupid crap w/ a car that is not theirs. I barely trust my parents to take my car for a spin, especially my dad :).

Fill the car with gas and use stabilizer. Change the oil so you don't have contaminated and acidic oil in the crankcase. Jack the car in the air and use jackstands to support the tires off the ground. It doesn't matter whether or not you place them so the suspension is loaded or it hangs. You won't harm the springs either way. No way. Take the battery out of the car and store it someplace it won't freeze (if you're in that type of climate) but at least disconnect it. If you really want to get particular, you can go to a Mercury Marine dealership and buy what they call Storage Seal. You spray it down the intake with the engine running and it fogs the motor. I've never seen it hurt the O2 sensors....but check the label. When you return, lower the car, charge and install the battery, and start it up. Allow everything to reach operating temps before driving. Remember, the trans and diff seals, etc have been sitting a long time so give them time to get "re-lubed" before you drive it normally. I've done this with my race cars every single winter and never had an issue.

i put my LS up every winter for the past 3-4 years and i never had any problems with it... i take out the battery and park it in my driveway with a car cover over it... your car should be fine
