i have a question... i have that 6 disc indash cd changer which works fine, but the lights for the buttons on the radio dont work but the display with the track information works fine. Could it be a fuse or is it just the light in the radio that is blown. if anything can it be replaced without gettin a brand new radio ? its a 2000 with 70k miles.

Are ALL the button lights out? I seem to remember reading something from Lincoln that one of the radios they had turned out the lights for the buttons that controlled functions for the mode you weren't using. So if you were playing the FM radio, controls for the CD wouldn't be lit.

yes all the lights are out the only info that is lit is for the track information... so it looks like light in a block hole.. :-s

a couple of my lights are out too, i think one of the blue arrows on the temperature panel is out, and one or 2 other buttons like that... dealership told me there was nothing i could do about it besides buy a whole new radio or temperature panel... i think they are full of sh!t

yea.. thats what they told me too, but i just dont wanna get rid of a 6 disc in-dash cd player for lights but whatever i might jus upgrade everything whenever the money comes. :-s

Locate a factory Ford radio service center and call them directly to see if the lights can be replaced/repaired. You can call your dealership parts department and they should be able to guide you. But I have a sneaking suspicion you're being told correctly and you have to replace the entire head unit.

I have the same problem, and from what I hear it is a problem with the dc to dc converter in the stereo. and unless you are good at soldering wires you might as well get a new radio. can someone confirm this?
