Does anyone know of a (relatively) inexpensive place to get rims re-chromed? Now, before you start telling me it's less expensive just to buy new rims, I have a set of aftermarket rims on my LS already. I bought some original rims that I would rather have on there, but they are spotted. I'm in the Dallas area, and the only places I've found, I have to ship them and the shipping would be as much as, if not more than the actual re-chroming. Thanks.

What do you mean spotted? Can't you just polish it off. And those aftermarket wheels are hideous. But nice ride, same as mine.

I've tried everything and they won't come off. Yes, they are hideous. They came on the car. It was almost a deal breaker for me, but the car only had 12,000 miles, so I figured I could get some better rims.

They do make it a one of a kind though.

The problem with re-chroming is they have to remove ALL the old plating; which is very, very expensive. The last time I checked it would have cost me about $300 per wheel to re-chrome.

I have the same stock wheels on my LS. I like them but I live in the midwest, and the chrome is peeling badly. It's sharp as heck. Cleaning them requires caution. If yours peeled in Texas, they're going to peel anywhere.

I have to do the same. my chrome is pealing big time. im actually thinking of just replacing them when my tires are due.

lol my boss just got a GMC Arcadia, and he really likes the wheels but really wants em chrome and asked me "if that was a thing".

I told him to get new wheels.

I have chrome aluminum wheels on my Expy and they chrome is showing it's age...but I love the wheels....never seen another set like them.

I figure once I get to the point I can't stand to look at them I may just strip it myself and do a high polish or have them powder coated.

I was thinking of going this route with my old wheels so I took them to a place in bath, pa near me which is supposedly one of the best wheel refinishers on the east coast - wheel collision center. The price was something like 1000+ for all 4 rechromed. My old wheels were peeling like crazy and even attempting to remove the old Chrome so I could get paint to stick and it wouldn't look horrible wasn't even a feasible option so now they sit in my basement and Chrome plastidipped jaguars have replaced them

Plating is an electro-chemical process, as is the de-plating process.

Close....but I wasn't in the DG parking lot...that was next to it....I almost had the Quadfecta!

Would I get extra credit when I get the fiberglass ram air hood on?

Just be sure to keep it either primer, or some polar opposite color as the rest of the truck. If you really want the bonus points, go for truck nuts. The metallic ones.

No but seriously, I don't care for that model year but I think that is the first vehicle I've seen that looks decent with those chrome rocker panel stickers.

That new plasti-dip aluminum with some glossifier should get you as CLOSE as you're going to get to the chrome color with only spending a fraction of the price.

I dont know about getting to chrome... But you can achieve any powder coat color/look with a fraction of the price.

I mean from a Plasti-dip stand point. Since they do not make chrome in a bottle (thank god).
