Have a 2000 LS V8 with a cruise that isn't working. The light on the dash comes on, but it doesn't hold speed.

I've heard that it could be the brake pedal position switch, have looked at the obvious things like vacuum leaks, broken lights on the car, etc.

Can anybody confirm weather the cruise light stays lit on the dash when you hit the brake pedal? If it's the sensor, the light on the dash shouldn't come on in the first place right?

the little green speedometer graphic turns OFF when I hit my brake pedal on my 03.

and if i understand correctly if your brake switch was out you'd have other symptoms such as your brake lights being on all the time right??

That's POSSIBLE! You would need to crawl under the dash and see how it's wired. Believe it or not, I've seen them with two different sets of wires to the same switch...one for lights, one for the cruise, ECM, etc. It's possible...and I have seen...the brake lights function normally and the cruise side of the switch not. And it's a weird switch too. We used to tell by hooking up a scan tool and checking the BOO switch. (Brake on/off) But I haven't done that with a CAN vehicle.
