Hello!
I'm in the process of replacing all the fluids in my LS, but can't find the rear axle drain plug.
Do I have to take the cover off in order to drain the oil?
Also, very soon I have to replace the front brake pads. I like to stick with Ford parts, are the OEM pads good enough for the money or is there a better value out there?
Thanks
Frank

if you are happy with the current pads I would stick with them. You can find some low/no dust pads that could make detailing the car easier.

It's even better than that. Look at what your cover is attached to. :) You have to drop the rear out to take the cover off to drain the oil.

You could try to siphon that old oil out instead.

Nothing is straight forward on this car is it.

I'd take the car to a Jiffy Lube or something like that, they can suck the old oil out w/ a vacuum through the fill plug, and refill it. If you provide the new oil, they can put that in for you. I've been thinking of creating my own oil-collection bong for just this purpose.

Too bad the cover can't be removed easily. Some cars, like both my R/T and WS6 have a magnet attached to the inside of the cover that collects all the metallic particles from wear and tear. You can't clean that off without removing the cover.

I don't think so. Let me know if you find something, and I will do the same.

The fill plug is magnetic and you can take that out easily and clean it. That is the only magnet in there.
