I have a 2002 LS V8. The right rear caliper is not releasing. Both rear calipers were replaced about 3 or months ago because of this problem.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this other than a bad caliper?

Could this be caused by the piston splines not being lined up properly with the nub on the pad? Just learned today that I need to do that. Doh! his could explain why the problem didn't occur every time I changed the pads and happened one side or the other.

Yes, it can. You can also damage the calipers if you attempt to squeeze in the pistons without rotating them clockwise as you are doing it. Also need to check the slide pins and the bracket. They should move very freely, must be greased, and you should replace any torn boots.
