I know all of you are probably getting tired of explaining this, but please.........1 last time. Own the 2000 LS with the 4 5x7 speakers. It has cut-outs for 6x9s on the rear deck w/o any wiring. My dumb ass went and bought infinity's reference 913s without checking what the car had. Can't mount them on the doors because there's not enough room. Found the cut-outs on the rear deck, but no wiring.

Basically, I want to mount the 6x9s on the deck. Since it doesn't have wiring, seems like I'm going to have to run the power from the rear door speakers. Is this practical?

If it is, will the speakers have enough power since it will now be split? what's the cleanest path for me to route the wires from the door to the rear deck?

Got the Kenwood Excellon 6x9s, will they run fine with the stock radio or am I going to have to buy an amp?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

an amp is always gonna be better, do u need one no, i changed out all my speakers with boston 5x7s and ran the back ones off the rear door. the cleanest way to run the wire is down the edge of the door under the kick plate and throught the seat, u cant even tell its there. hope this helped a little im sure more people will chime in soon

welcome to lvc, good to see more people from the bay join us

I amped my 6x9s and they now can rattle the h*ll out of the rear deck when I turn up the bass. I have mine set up to only pass < 80HZ. At full range they don't sound that good because the highs and mids don't pass though rear deck well.

oh ya, I would not recomend getting your power from the rear doors, unless you like to jurry rig stuff.

I did the same thing you are doing. That cardboard that is on the rear dash that you need to cut out is crazy hard. I went through 2 cut off wheels that ended up self destructing themselves.(wear glasses) The only proper way to do this is with another amp. I think I got a 25X2 mtx amp on on ebay for under $40 shippped. I know it says 25X2, but it rocks the hell out of the infinity reference 6X9's I have back there now. The battery is in the trunk, amp wiring can't get much easier. I amped all of my inner speakers also so I got the signal for them right behind the deck, however it doesn't seem like it would be that bad to take the signals from the doors and hook up a small amp to your 6X9's. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thank you to all who replied. And yes, I'll probably go with the amp to the 6x9 hook-up.

Is installing speakers in the rear deck really all that involved? I just bought a pair of Alpine Type R 5x7's, and I was planning on installing them in the rear deck this weekend.

griff- you would be better off with 6X9's so you have metal around the edge to screw them into.

I was thinking about 6x9's, but I got a really good deal on the Alpine's. I couldn't pass it up. I got them for $70 at Crutchfield
