everytime I put the car in reverse from park I get a loud rear end clunk. I am assuming it is the u-joint, but I wanted to check with you guys before I go out and buy the parts. Is there any thing else that could cause this? Rearend bearing? or ???

most likely the u joint, put the rear up in ther air, and have some one hold the brake and shift from reverse to drive and see what moves

I had the same problem years ago. I turned out to be a silenoid ( is that how you spell it ) in the trans. Mine was still under warranty so I got lucky.

yes you can check it by hand also but i find the other way easier
if it does it a little its normal its just the backlash you cant have the gears too tight or they will burn up so a small clunk is just the factory slop in the rear end, when its a u joint its a more noticeable clunk
