rear end noise

just purchaed a 96 markviii a clunking noise is apparent some times in reverse ,forward gears are fine and carruns out great any suggestions ???? :feedback please

possibly a bad u-joint or possibly a worn bearing. does the car have traction-loc rear axle?maybe time for fresh lube and additive. does the car have independant rear suspension? maybe a worn half shaft or axle bind. i dont know much about that certain car but those are only my best guesses.
