I finally got to replacing my driver’s side rear half shaft. The outer CV boot had torn. I had regularly pumped a little grease into the boot for preventative measures. Not sure it did much other than throw grease all over the rear suspension.
I had obsessed about the tool to get the job off the axle...it nearly fell out when I had everything in bolted. I did invest in the specific tools in the manual including the seal protector tool, differential plug, and the tool to pry out the inner part.
I also recently picked up a low mileage OEM rear lower control arm and installed that while I had things apart.
I ended up taking the entire knuckle off because I couldn’t get the axle into the hub. The upper ball joint is a pain to tighten but I got it done. I did reuse all the hardware with blue loctite except the axle bolt.
Next project is passenger side...I did check toe link and the bushings are a little loose and probably need to replace those soon.
