I have been away from the site for some time now, but recently picked up another Mark. The "new" car has 97k original miles and for the most part a pretty clean car.

Problems: Are pictured. The last thread on the rear light points was from 2010 so I didn't want to revive it. Anyone replaced these?

Mine are start to show wear too . a 1996 mk8. New parts would make it right. Or very good used.

Wow, that's pretty bad. I'd send racebronco2 a message to see if he has a rust free set.

Replacing them will likely be a problem as the top nut will start to spin once you try to remove the bolt. That often means that you'll need to drill a hole into the car from behind it so that you can get a wrench on it. I've never done it but have read plenty of stories about the repair.

rust free? yeah the ones you can get from Ford are rust free, still painted, and fairly inexpensive.

those bushings though, are also in bad shape. and with that much rust, getting it apart will be a pain.
get a hole saw, and cut holes above the bushings to expose the captured nuts, and start applying PB Blaster or Kroil or something now.

my bolt was rusted stuck in the bushing though, so you might be screwed anyway like i was.

I thought they were long gone, or was it just the bushings?
