Was rolling the right rear window up tonight on my 01 and POP! The window won't go up. The motor will still run and the window will slide up and down if I grab it and pull up.
It was dark so I didn't look it over real good, but I presume I need to remove a few screws and the inside cover of the door will come off so I can take a look? Anything there I may tear up if I don't know what I am doing and what should I look for once I get there--broken track or plastic tab or something like that? Would appreciate hearing from a voice of experience.

Thanks

ya the door panel comes off real easy... there should be 2 screws on the bottom part you need to unscrew and one on the side maybe? and there might also be a couple in the little plastic holder part thing on the armrest part of the door panel, lift up the flap to see if there are any screws... then the you gotta pull the panel out carefull cause it is held by plastic pop ins, dont break em!!

and thats about all i can tell ya :( sorry, but it sounds like the regulator broke or suttin... somebody will pop in with more knowledge to help ya out... but if you need any parts i got every part you need for the rear door, lemme know! good luck...

Same exact thing has been happening to me with my rear passenger window. I gotta little wedge holding it up for now but it still slowly slides down. The motor runs but I just hear a grinding noise. Funny thing is, I need to run the motor in order to manually pull the window up from time to time, otherwise it still has a "grip" on the window. Sometimes it will catch, sometimes it wont, whats really messed up is that sometimes the direction switches completely and up goes down and vise-versa! I got my windows tinted about eight months ago so maybe that has something to do with it. I'll tear it apart soon enough...

Regulator.

Yep, its the regulator. This is a very common problem in the 00-01 vehicles, since the part that broke is made of plastic. Lincoln fixes this problem by replacing those plastic pieces with metal ones that do not break.
