I know everyone has been curious about how the Temple kit works, so here's my two cents. Follow the instructions and clean the underside of the trim thoroughly. It was pretty filthy. I parked the car in the sun for a bit and waited for the trim to soften. I then cut the pieces to size, inserted them adhesive side up towards the trim all the way to the end. I then just left a little out so that I could pull the backing off of the adhesive. Ba da bing, ba da boom. I heated the super lasagne parts with the low setting on my heat gun to get them to really bond to the trim repair. It was definitely easy enough to do. Is it perfect? No, but it is monumentally better than it was. I will report on it after it has had 24 hours to set as well. Would I buy this kit again? Absolutely. It's easy to install and it is worth the money. It was still fairly warm in the pics, so I expect it to settle down upon cooling.

And... I installed the new Optima Battery and powder coated cobra tray, new battery terminals (which are a real bitch with the Optimas) and the fuse box cover. The cover is awaiting a CobraStar that was just won on eBay. Happy dual Mark VIII caretaker and lover!!!!:D :D :D

Your engine bay isn't purple anymore?

Edit: oh that's the other car

Na, I was bored with it. Thought I'd go ahead and tear it completely apart again and make it San Francisco Giants orange instead. :p Next week, I'm going for red, white and blue.

Very nice...I am planning on this repair but after I do more foundation work!...glad to know that you have had a bit of success. The only advantage I have found with the rippled rear window seal is that I can locate my car in the Wal-mart parking lot very easily when I can't remember where the fck I parked...I hope I don't have early onset Alzheimer's disease!:D

Well it's a good thing that it isn't a parking lot full of Mark 8s because then you wouldn't know which rippled Mark8 is yours. LOL:p

Just noticed the '57 190 SL in your sig. Do tell! Is that special critter still around? What's her story? Color? Heritage? I have a deep fondness for old Benzs as my family has had a few. I drove a '67 250S that was dark blue for a chunk of time and it rescued all of us regularly. That car would sit for years at a time and then someone would need it... clean it up, charge the battery and off she'd fire. Unbelievable. When the car finally left my family, it did so with more that 750,000 miles on the clock. I still miss her.

I was just looking at the rear window seal kit from temple because it is still on the punch list for the Lincoln. I am going to order that. Also headed down to Columbia this Tuesday to install Jay's shock tower supports on the Lincoln.

Yes the Benz is still around I have started a bit of work on it to get it running. A lot of the wiring is shot and needs replacement. I remember looking at it and purchasing it with my Dad in 1975. It has Webers on it now and I still have the original Solex carbs which I remember trying to tune and sync. I drove it one semester in high school. My Dad did a partial restoration in the mid 80's and it has been in the family since. My Dad gifted it to my brother and I and I bought his half. I will probably keep it. It is not costing me anything now and I can "tinker" with it as I have time. It would be nice to a full bosy off restoration but I don't really have the money to do that at this time. Attached is a pic of the car. Thanks for noticing I just had not seen your replies (i.e.,) abt the rear window fix.
