I see most of you fix your own cars. Im asking where would i take my ls v8 2002 to have a tune up done/ coolant flush and my transsmisson check. Is the dealer the only place that can do this work?

There's really no such thing as a tune-up anymore. There's no points to replace or carburetor to adjust.
There's plenty of routine maintenance to do. Fluids to change, spark plugs to change, and so on. What is it that you need?
With a twenty year old car, frankly, the dealer is one of the worst places to go. Find a good local independent shop, preferably one with Jaguar experience.

If you can't DIY such a simple procedure sell the car and buy an applicance.
A used LS is not for someone who uses a dealer!
Just too expensive that way.

In HER defense... SHE joined this forum a while back with cooling system questions... and never got any help.

Now she's back with other questions... and getting a negative response.

Dia,

I suggest you find a local "Community College" in your area... and take your car there to be worked on.

They will usually do the work for free just to get experience... excluding any cost for parts. If you really want to learn to do the work yourself... ask questions... and/or sign up for a class if you have the funds.

As said... there really is no such thing as a "tuneup" any more.

Modern cars (for the last 20 years or so) are hooked up to a scanner that shows what is going on in "real time".

Everything is monitored to check for issues and as the "tech" goes through all the "checks" they will see if there are any issues.

I apologize for not trying to help you with your cooling system woes... but I barely have time to work on my own vehicles... and to try and teach someone (even an inexperienced male) over the internet definitely has its challenges.

Yea take to a community collage. What makes you think they will know anything about the Lincoln LS? Your car is broken and you want a bunch of stupid college kids trying to learn car mechanics to work on your complicated old car? How do they have any chance to fix it and NOT make things worse??

Heck Ford could not figure the LS out in their own dealerships!

If you want to own an LS. This forum is the one and only solution. It's an old car. We have several very experience posters. You MUST DIY or it will be a disaster. Just read the forum your answer is there. Dozens of threads with people hoping desperately that "it's a fuse??" or something simple and cheap.

Well it's not!! Get the manuals read them and get your hands dirty. It's a hands on process and no matter how many photos and videos you shoot with your retarded phone it won't help! All the problems for the Lincoln LS have LONG been found out. There are no mysteries anymore.

Really??? The LS is 20+ year old (European) technology. Some of which is still being used in more recent years.

Don't sell the CC guys (and/or gals) short. They do have instructors ya know... and most of them are retired technicians.

Your negativity sucks.

I did Vo-tech high school AND CC... and learned a lot... and gained a lot of experience. I'm getting behind the times now, cause I haven't turned a wrench professionally in a number of years.

So don't sell the CC guys short.

I'd take them a normal car if i didn't care about it to much, but i wouldn't take this one to a cc, most actual certified mechanics don't even know shit about these cars, lol!

If they came out with the LS now... it would BE considered a "normal" car. It was truly ahead of it's time (in it's day).
Well most actual mechanics know nothing about these cars and can't work on them properly, so you can go to no experience kids if ya want, but I'm gonna find someone that actually knows the car, lol
