If you have a capture card (like one of the Hauppauge units), you can take advantage of the "analog hole" to capture it your computer, but that's a "real time" capture--you have to watch the show for the capture card to record it. There's no way, AFAIK, to download or rip it directly from the DirecTV box's hard drive, but if you're good enough at searching, you might be able to find people who've hacked it to do that. (I've never bothered looking; all the capturing I've done from DirecTV was done in real time.)
