I'm looking for a remote start for my 03' LS8, I was wondering if any aftermarket package can provide the functionality to turn on my heated/cooled seat from the remote. I like the remotes with the car's status on the LCD, with the 1mile+ range, a friend of mine has one for his GTP, and it's great, but his doesn't do the remote seat control, can any?

You can have the climate-controlled seats come on automatically if you put them in "auto" mode. Just press and hold both the seat heating and cooling buttons until the middle indicator over each turns green, then the seat heating/cooling will be tied into the EATC, and will remain so, even after a restart of the car.

Get the Viper 791XV I love it never thought it would have such a long range you'd be impressed what it can do.

Anybody know of a good remote start system that i can use my factory key fob with and not need an additional remote to use it?

IIRC, the top-end Ford Remote Start kit uses a remote that includes the functionality of the factory remote.

I have the Clifford RSX 3.5 or something like that. I've been pleased with it.

Black, Were you able to use your factory key fob or did you need a separate remote for the starting function?

its the remote that came with the alarm. the kind with the LCD status indicator on it.

Black03, why did you pick the RSX Line? Did you compare it to the AvantGuard 5? I've been lookin at those two.

Are there any systems out there where you don't have to give up a spare key? I have a 01 LS8. It hit -3 today, time to put a remote start in!

nope, the key is part of the security system which is needed to start the car. w/o the key, the car will not start, you need to put the key in the bypass module.

He's right. Some older cars can use parts that "remember" the key so it is not needed to start it, but with the LS it needs the actual key.

According to directed electronics there bypass module 1100F does not require the key and in LS specific, but it is bit pricey for a bypass module

Hey Nick, just saw your post. I called around to some places looking for the AG5 originally and finally found an installer that had it. When I went up there the owner actually talked me down to the RSX and less money because I didn't need the AvantGuard5. He said most of the features it has were not benefitial for my application. For a highly modified car it would be great, but at the time it was like a $400 safe to protect my piggy bank so to speak. Either way I think you will be fine, they are both fine alarms, just go with whatever is cheaper or has more features you like.

EXACTLY!!! $400 to protect a piggy bank.. I mainly need the RSX 3.5, but would want to add the BlackJax to it.. Is that possible since they are from two different lines from Clifford?

What was the total for the alarm and install? I found a dealer that wants $900 "out the door" for the AG5.. But I don't need all that.. But the BlackJax is a Nice Option...

My RSX was around $550. However, I added 4 interior sirens (about $20 each) and a backup battery (don't remember how much that was). Also, my friend worked at Ultimate Electronics and he gave me a little discount. Nothing major but something. I was figuring around $850 for the AG5 but decided to save the $300 instead.

In all honesty, go talk to a high end installer. If it's somebody that NEEDS the business they will tell you anything, if they could do without it you will most likely get more accurate information. I ended up not even going with the guy that sold me on the RSX because I could get it better with my friend, but the guy was giving me a no BS answer to my problem. He took into concideration where I lived, where I worked, what I drove, my wheels, car, engine, add-ons, everything, then made a decision on what he would reccomend FOR ME.

clifford 3.5 matrix

look on shopzilla.com and search for the 3.5 matrix clifford. you should get it for around 200-250 then take it to your local installer. who should install it for no more than 150. tell the installer to add the required relays to keep the oem alarm features such as the windows going down along with other features that come with the alarm such as remote start and you get an alarm with it. Thats what I did and i got a great alarm at a good price, seeing how most car audio places were charging me around 600 for the same system. so I think buying it and getting it installed comes out cheaper and better.

I've had several local authorized dealers say they won't install any "brought in" alarms. Got to buy it from them....Supposidly it's Clifford's policy.. SOme BS like that

I'm getting one done on wed. Called lincoln, they gave me name of local shop they use. 199 for kit that requires a key and 249 (installed of course) for kit that doesn't. i opted for the latter. 299 and I can get a new single keyfob that does everything. not too shabby we'll see how it goes.

told them I want my car to start w/remote. they said 199 installed gets a remote starter w/key required and 249 gets starter w/no spare key required:)
