when i bought my car the remote for the locks were missing. and i noticed they sell them on ebay. so does anyone know if they are worth buying?

ask quickls he knows everything. I think i have an extra one sittin around if if does not have to be for an ls...let me know

I don't know how you can live without them! But the remote may be only a small part of the price. If you're a pre 03, you need to have them programmed at the dealer. You can't do it yourself. So.....you may as well get two of them plus the keyless entry pad and have them all done at once!

- and depending on the dealer - some do it for nothing, while other charge you $40-$50.

I know mine here in orlando wanted 100$ and told me it take over hour....My buddy was going to FORD school and did it for FREE.....I want a keypad but he is out of school now so I need to find out if he can still do it or not.....

Actually, that's true of all year LSes. IIRC, you have to take the car, all of the remotes (at least the ones you want to work), and (maybe) all of the keys to the dealer.

I cant believe the keypad isnt stock. Geez they come on so many Fords. My coworker with a 99 explorer has the keypad and my 95 Mark VIII had it. I love Ford to death but they piss me off with the way they market their vehicles.

You can add them yourself on a 03+.

I've bought a few over the years off eBay. They've always worked. Just make sure you're getting new ones and they have the right code. But since you don't have one now, you won't be able to compare codes...so you'll have to go by application.

Bought them and had them programmed

I had to buy mine (ebay) and yes might as well take or buy 2 remotes to the stealership and they charged me $50 and it took them like an hour to program. Or depending if have a hookup at a dealership it might be less, so good luck !
