removing rear panel

whats up guys? I just recently installed some subs in my 05 Navi and my next step is to sound deaden the rear hatch. Anybody know how to remove the interior panel of the liftgate. I feel like every attempt i take im gonna crack it.

I can tell you about the earlier ones. There is a couple of smallish screws that are recessed a bit in the lower part, not the bottom, of the panel, remove them first. To loosen the upper part you will have to pry the panel out about a half inch. There are at least 4 spring clips holding it in place starting about half way up the rear glass. Once the top is free and the lower screws are out you will have to push the panel towards the top of the door. You might want a helper at that point as the panel can be a bit awkward to handle, but its not heavy.

Trim Panel —Liftgate
Removal

Remove the upper liftgate trim panel.

Remove the liftgate assist strap.
Remove the screws.
Remove the liftgate assist strap.

Remove the lower liftgate trim panel.
Remove the pushpins.
Remove the trim panel.

Installation

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
