I was doing the seafoam thing to day (only got a little smoke)
when I had the beauty cover off I got to look at the resonator
that is on the intake tube.
what size cap do I need to get from Home Depot ?
what will removing this thing Do??
someone told me it helps heat the air before it gets to the intake
?? why heat air??

Get a 1 1/2 inch pipe cap fitting, the ones with the wingnut that tightens to fit. If fits perfects, costs a buck and a half and takes a few minutes max to change.

Yeah. Took me 30 seconds.

i cut the peices off and fab. up sum plastic peices...out of sum scrap i had around the shop. used sum very adheisive glue and then painted the intake ....the scrap peices looked like the same material the intake is made out of so it looked stock..........

Straightens out the intake flow and makes a little more intake noise.

Not much noise, I noticed no difference until I pulled the silencer, and then only when I push over 3500 rpm.

However, since I pulled the resonator and silencer, I have picked up about 1.5 mpg!!!

You know, I heard someone mention on this forum that the car likes warm air. Don't know why, that's just what he said.

No - it likes cold air - this is why the air filter is in a box and draws air from outside the engine compartment.
