I just got a 96 Town Car that has the JBL system in it, but all of the rear speakers were blown out. I replaced them today with a set of Pioneer 5 way 6x9s but when I turned everything on and the bass up a little I still had a horrible rattle out back.
I fixed the problem in a way that I never thought would perform well!
I had an 8" subwoofer in a box from a little truck I had, so I decided what the heck, I'll wire it up and see how it sounds. Turns out the stock amplifier has PLENTY of juice to give it a really good full sound!
After replacing all of the rears I am going to go ahead and replace the fronts as well so that I have a completely new sound system. I wasn't going for huge bass, but I think it could use a little more. Do you guys think the stock amp would power a single voice coil 10" sub in a sealed box? Is there a brand of front replacements that performs better than others??
Thanks for the info and reading!
