I still have a few K miles left on my Michelin stock tires (40K so far) but I'm looking for a good relacement set that will equal or best them in the near future. Currently I have Pilot HX MXM, 235/50R17, and I want an equal size and profile. I like the current wheels and am not replacing those.

So Bud's and Dude-etts, what's the word? :)

What are you looking for in a tire?

Treadwear?

Winter capable?

Wet weather?

Dry traction?

Performance?

Ride comfort?

I actually just replaced my tires this past week. I never cared for the stock Michellins so I did a ton of research online and I went with the Dunlop Signature Sports and so far they are like night and day. They have great dry traction for an all season tire and they have a stiff sidewall. I live in Iowa and our weather changes in a matter of hours. In the past week it has both rained and got our first snow this past Friday. These tires did excellent in the rain and snow. I got mine at Tirerack.com for 122.00 each. They have good treadwear and are V speedrated. I have only put a few hundred
iles on them so far but I'm very pleased!

the link i posted goes to a set of dunlop sigs that i currently have on my 20s, needless to say, excellent tires.

go 2 tirerack and start reading reviews. i have never been suprised with any tire if you expect what the reviews say.

i also have the dunlop ss on my 20s and i have no complaint about them what so ever, i even broke a rim in nevada and had to drive close to a mile on the flat tire and when i got new rime i thought i would have to replace that one tire because the
low profile tires dont do to good flat but the tire was perfectly fine to my suprise, so if your looking for a really affordable all season tire, i recomend looking into those

I fitted my 06 with Bridgestone Pole Position 235/50/R17s for summer and Michellin Xi2s 215/55/R17s for winter.

I put a set of cooper cs4 h/v on my ls and everything is great. Its a comfortable ride, quiet, and handles great in dry/wet traction. No snow on Long Island yet but so far so good.

Thanks for the info so far, I'll check out the links with the reviews.
BTW,
I'm in Alexandria, VA, and most of the time in this weather is dry pavement, some wet weeks in Fall and Winter, and a FEW days when there is snow that accumulates, causing DC shutdowns (mercifully).

I would like M/S rated because of the slippery conditions, and because I appreciate the performance the modern M&S tires can give. So I would like a balance of performance and rain/slush traction.

The few days I get snow, I'm in my 4X4 Navigator!!:)

If you go from a 235/50R17 to a 245/50R17, the price drops like $20 a tire...

Also, check to see if any tire you buy has a wheel lip guard, it helps prevent scuffing of the rim.

CJ, Thanks for the tip on the lip guard. I thought most performance tires would have those, but I'll be careful to make sure! ;)

Firestone Firehawk GT

These are what I put on my LS a couple months ago... its an all season tire/ High performance tire... and it looks good on the car. Grips great.. Ride is smooth.

If you don't have to worry about snow, the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas are awesome tires in the rain. I had them on my 19s before trading my car in. I would like to get them for the 300, but I need a spare set of wheels first.
