I replaced my air compressor today because it made a ton of racket, didn't always inflate properly, and lately, hadn't worked at all. The rear end of the car has been jacked up pretty high for a while now, and everytime I start the car i immediately get a check air ride message, whereas before i would get them intermittently.

So I replaced the compressor, and was careful to make sure everything was plugged in and connected properly. When I started the car I immediately got a check air ride message and the car's hieght did not change at all.

Now, when my front left sensor fell off, and I re attached it, the ride height did not return to normal until I disconnected the battery and reset the ECU. I am wondering - is this the case here as well? Time will tell as I have disconnected the battery and am waiting. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, that didn't work. Still getting the same error, brand new compressor still not coming on.

i read somewhere on this site that it is possible to test the relay for the air compressor by replacing it with the one for the AC. Is this possible? How would I got about doing it?

Did you try the relay

by try the relay, do you mean test it? if that's what you meant, no, i haven't yet.

It's not the one for the A/C.....its the relay for the ABS system, it's located in the same place as the suspension one, only on the other side. As noted in the picture.....

so i can just unplug it from the left side and move it over to the left side and test it out?

Yea sorry I can't type for crap. I meant ABS just fingers don't co-operate.

is there a way to manually turn on my compressor so i can achieve normal ride height?

also - when i manually unplugged all the air lines from the compressor to change it, no air left my bags. is this normal? i guess it is, because i guess the solenoids need to receive a signal to vent....

My 95' has a set of switches to do that, but I did'nt install them. I'll try to look up the wiring diagram to do it. Give me a sec.

Not trying to be funny (Ok, I am :N ) but did you turn on the switch in the trunk when you finished? Did the relay not work? Have you checked related fuse?

yeah the switch is on. if you don't turn that switch on you get a message on the screen in any case that says "air ride off" :( Is there a fuse specifically for the relay? The reason I assume it's the relay is because I changed the air compressor and I am in the exact same situation as before: as soon as i turn on the car, "Check air ride".

Have you been able to change out the relays? Sad thing is if this had happened a week ago I had one I could have given you for free, but the car is now gone.

no, i haven't had the chance to swap over the relay yet. I am going to try late tomorrow afternoon - I think i'll have time then and a friend is coming over. Such a hassle to have to get into both interior fenders like that :(
