My A/C control unit needs to be replaced. (Long story.) I have never had to get into the center console.

Before I go fiddling with it, I want to be sure I am doing it right. It appears that the 2 top vents need to be removed, and then the ashtray. I should be able to simply unbolt/unplug the old unit then follow this in reverse.

Am I missing anything? I don't need to fool with the radio, correct?

Mike,

The DATC unit is attached to the radio. Just remove the top center vent (it pulls straight out) and take the surround off the around the ashtray there are two bolts on top and two on the bottom. The entire unit with the radio comes out. There you just take the bolts off that hold the DATC unit to the radio. Like Chris said above....it's pretty straight forward.

What happened? Did it die on ya?

You mean Ford actually put in a radio that does not require a torture device looking special tool to take it out? Just screws and bolts...what'll they think of next.
