I own a 00 LS. I was thinking about replacing the head and fog lights with some bright white bulbs that you see in the newer cars.

I heard doing this causes electrical problems with the car. Is that true?

Also,if they can be replaced any recommendation on which ones to buy?

What is the bulb number for the head and fog lights?

lskoncepts.com has any bulb you should need for your car.

i never heard of changing a bulb could cause electrical problems. yet putting an after market alarm/autostart and there you will start seeing some funny problems.

I use Hoen bulbs in my car, but other folks like Sylvania Silverstars. The swap is fairly easy. I forget what size bulbs the 00-02 cars take, but remember that it was a standard size.

You can choose from a wide selection of bulbs at LSKoncepts (www.lskoncepts.com). Ken will help you choose, and won't steer you wrong!

If you have the fundage, I recommend HIDs for sure.

Kits are soo cheap these days it's not even funny. You can get a 4300k kit for $120 shipped on eBay. I really only recommend 4300k though. Anything higher than that, you sacrifice light output for looking like a ricer with blue ass lights.

The 00-02 LSs use a 9006 base bulb which is very common. If you can't go HID, get some Silverstars. Don't buy those $10.00 blue bulbs you can find on eBay, they are junk and people will laugh at you.

If you can afford it go with an HID conversion kit. However, if cash is an issue I'd recommend the Hoen or Nokya bulbs. We sell both on our website.

As for the HID kits, be careful on inexpensive kits. Typically, you get what you pay for on those. I'm not saying all are bad but if bulbs or ballasts go out trying to file a warranty claim could be an issue. We sell three different types of HID conversion kits starting at $250 and up. We have one kit that is a digital ballast kit. It is one of the best kits we have ever sold. I have the digital kit on my Pathfinder and it was much easier to install due to the thinner ballast. Also, the digital kits will produce a more accurate color from bulb to bulb than standard ballasts. Not to mention that Xetronic has one of the best warranties out there.

I was thinking of just replacing the bulbs with HID bulbs. I found some on ebay for a good price . I know the low beams are 9006s but the fog lights are 9145. On the ebay site it claims that the 9005 are the same as the 9145. Is that true? and will they work on my 00 LS? Also most of you recommended the brand Nokya. What specs should I get?

Headlights / FogLights

Brand?
Kelvins?
Watts?

7000k barley has any blue at all when lit somtimes from the side and during the evening or up close but the light they put out is only slightly blue.

But I noticed diferent brands have different takes for some stupid reason on the Kelvins for instance the Nokyas 7000k. I would stil go 6000k and 2500k on the fogs.

Also for the fog lights 9145. Is that the same as H10 bulbs?[/QUOTE]

Those bulbs are NOT HID. Get the real kit from LSKoncepts.com and yes the housing for the 9145,9005,H10 are the same BUT the 9145 has the tip painted and the others dont. I have heard from other LVCers that the 9005 have melted the lens on the fogs but on the other hand I ran 9005s for over a year and didnt have a problem. Kens site in the outlet section has a top of the line digital kit for $329 and they are normally 449 If the bulbs are not your size sell those on ebay or this site and order some from more bulbs from ken

Okay so I wont get then. I really don't want to spend the money a the actual kits. I just want my low beams and fog lights to look bright white..not blue. I don't need anything over the top. I want something close to the OEM configuration.

Can you guys recommend the brand that would be safe for my car. Maybe a store link or ebay link.

Easy choice...

For what you are looking for the Sylvania SilverStar bulbs will work out just fine. I used to upgrade each of my vehicles with these until I found HID's on eBay.

Hi Beam-- 9005ST (sylvania adds the ST)
Lo beam-- 9006ST

Fogs will accept 9005 (Since the tips of the bulbs lack any type of paint to hold back any glare you may get other drivers flashing their lights at you due to the glare. Be mindful that you are defeating the purpose of the fog lights. They are meant to be less bright and shoot their beams low, underneath the fog, so as to not "light-up" the fog in front of you, but, instead light the ground in front of you.)

If I am not mistaken, Sylvania does make a 9145ST for the fog lamps.

You'll probably end up spending $90 on SilverStars to do your lo beams and fogs. good luck.

I decided to go with the Nokya bulbs 9005/9006. I noticed they have 2 versions of this bulb a stage 1 and a stage 2. Stage 2 has a higher wattage.

STAGE 1: 9005: 80w(Output)80w(consume)
9006: 70w(Output)70w(consume)

STAGE 2: 9005:120w(Output)65w(consume)
9006:100w(Output)55w(consume)

Which should I go with?
Should I be concerned about wattage? Which wattage should I be more concern with: output or consume?
Nokya also makes 9005xs and 9006xs. Should I go with these? What is the difference for regular 9005/6?

Can I just plug these in on the OEM wiring? What you think about these?

Nokya or Silverstar ultra?
One thing you need to be concerned about is the wattage that the aftermarket bulbs produce. The stock bulbs operate around 55-60 watts. If you start to get above that stock wattage output you need to look into getting heavy duty connectors. The bulbs that operate above 65 watts can potentially melt your stock connectors. I have seen this before and you don't want to happen as it may affect your entire electrical system or worse, catch fire!

The Silverstar Ultras operate around 60-65 watts which is acceptable to the stock connectors. The Nokya Stage 2 bulbs operate well above the 60 watt range and it is recommended that you use heavy duty connectors with those bulbs. We sell both Nokya and Hoen. Hoen strongly recommends using the heavy duty connectors for any bulb above 65 watts.

Nokya's can get confusing for beginers cause they go by so many different Kelvins and unless you have seen what they look like before and know what the degree of kelvin may turn out to look like, I would say for you to just get the silverstars.

If you get the Nokya stage 2's get the wire upgrade from Ken at LSK.
