Too bad we don't have folks on Capitol Hill willing to speak out like
this.

J..D. Pendry is a retired Marine Sergeant Major who writes for Random
House. He is eloquent, and as taught by the Marines, he seldom beats
around the bush.

'The Axis of Idiots'
Jimmy Carter, you are the father of the Islamic Nazi movement. You threw
the Shah under the bus, welcomed the Ayatollah home, and then lacked the
spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy and our people
hostage. You're the runner-in-chief..

Bill Clinton, you played ring around the Lewinsky while the terrorists were
at war with us. You got us into a fight with them in Somalia and then you
ran from it. Your weak-willed responses to the USS Cole and the First Trade
Center Bombing and Our Embassy Bombings emboldened the killers. Each time
you failed to respond adequately, they grew bolder, until 9/11/2001.

John Kerry, dishonesty is your most prominent attribute. You lied about
American Soldiers in Vietnam . Your military service, like your life, is
more fiction than fact. You've accused our military of terrorizing women and
children in Iraq . You called Iraq the wrong war, wrong place, wrong time,
the same words you used to describe Vietnam . You're a fake. You want to
run from Iraq and abandon the Iraqis to murderers just as you did to the
Vietnamese. Iraq , like Vietnam , is another war that you were for, before
you were against it.
John Murtha, you said our military was broken. You said we can't win
militarily in Iraq . You accused United States Marines of cold-blooded
murder without proof and said we should redeploy to Okinawa . Okinawa, John?
And the Democrats call you their military expert! Are you sure you didn't
suffer a traumatic brain injury while you were off building your war hero
resume? You're a sad, pitiable, corrupt and washed up politician.
You're not a Marine, sir. You wouldn't amount to a good pimple on a real
Marine's butt. You're a phony and a disgrace. Run away, John.

Dick Durbin, you accused our Soldiers at Guantanamo of being Nazis,
tenders of Soviet style gulags and as bad as the regime of Pol Pot , who
murdered two million of his own people after your party abandoned Southeast
Asia to the Communists. Now you want to abandon the Iraqis to the same
fate. History was not a good teacher for you, was it? Lord help us! See
Dick run.

Ted Kennedy, for days on end you held poster-sized pictures from Abu
Ghraib in front of any available television camera. Al Jazeera quoted you as
saying that Iraqi's torture chambers were open under new management.. Did
you see the news, Teddy? The Islamic Nazis demonstrated another beheading
for you. If you truly supported our troops, you'd show the world
poster-sized pictures of that atrocity and demand the annihilation of it.
Your legislation stripping support from the South Vietnamese led to a
communist victory there. You're a bloated, drunken fool bent on repeating
the same historical blunder that turned freedom-seeking people over to
homicidal, genocidal maniacs. To paraphrase John Murtha, all while sitting
on your wide, gin-soaked rear-end in Washington.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Carl Levine, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein,
Russ Feingold, Hillary Clinton, Pat Leahy, Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, the
Hollywood Leftist morons, et al, ad nauseam: Every time you stand in front
of television cameras and broadcast to the Islamic Nazis that we went to
war because our President lied, that the war is wrong and our Soldiers are
torturers, that we should leave Iraq, you give the Islamic butchers - the
same ones that tortured and mutilated American Soldiers - cause to think
that we'll run away again, and all they have to do is hang on a=2 0little
longer. It is inevitable that we, the infidels, will have to defeat the
Islamic jihadists. Better to do it now on their turf, than later on ours
after they have gained both strength and momentum. American news media, the
New York Times particularly: Each time you publish stories about national
defense secrets and our intelligence gathering methods, you become one
united with the sub-human pieces of camel dung that torture and mutilate
the bodies of American Soldiers. You can't strike up the courage to publish
cartoons, but you can help Al Qaeda destroy my country. Actually, you are
more dangerous to us than Al Qaeda is. Think about that each time you face
Mecca to admire your Pulitzer.

You are America 's 'AXIS OF IDIOTS.' Your Collective Stupidity will
destroy us. Self-serving politics and terrorist-abetting news scoops are
more important to you than our national security or the lives of innocent
civilians and Soldiers. It bothers you that defending ourselves gets in the
way of your elitist sport of politics and your ignorant editorializing.
There is as much blood on your hands as is on the hands of murdering
terrorists. Don't ever doubt that.. Your frolics will only serve to extend
this war as they extended Vietnam . If you want our Soldiers home as you
claim, knock off the crap and try supporting your country ahead of
supporting your silly political aims and aiding our enemies.

Yes, I'm questioning your patriotism. Your loyalty ends with self. I'm also
questioning why you're stealing air that decent Americans could be
breathing. You don't deserve the protection of our men and women in uniform.
You need to run away from this war, this country. Leave the war to the
people who have the will to see it through and the country to people who
are willing to defend it. '

Our country has two enemies: Those who want to destroy us from the
outside and those who attempt it from within.

Semper Fi,
J. D. Pendry - Sergeant Major, USMC, Retired

So how is it that this retired E-9 can speak out about leadership, but when I did it you talked bad about me?

So how is it that this retired E-9 can speak out about leadership, but when I did it you talked bad about me?

The key word there is RETIRED.

I can guarantee you that during his active service he never publicily said anything like this. When I am retired you can be assured I will speak my mind about the people leading this country, but until then I have enough HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT to not be disloyal to those appointed over me, especially a fellow Marine (or soldier in your case). What Mr. Pendry did and what you did are to totaly different things. If you cant see that your blind.

Once a Marine, always a Marine! Right, Secondly he is drawing a retirement from the Marine Corp, is he not? as long as you are drawing any type of compensation from the military, you are subject to UCMJ, UCMJ are the laws that govern service members. Retirement is not like ETSing, you are placed on an inactive status rather ending service, retirees can be called back! Mr. Pendry may be called back just for this, Commander in chief has the power to do whatever when it comes to the military.

Are you arguing that a retired military person is not allowed to make comments critical of the federal government? That he's lost his first amendment right to criticize SENATORS and a failed one term President from 30 years ago?

no, but once again you moved that part of my post. you can read it in the bicker thread.

catmech said:
marines are taught never to question a superior officer under any circumstance and that may have something to do with it. i dont know. however chadly is currently serving and if nothing else has earned his right in my book.

I was addressing the question to Lincolnx2, you seem to have a different opinion than him.

Apparently you think that only some people have "earned the right" to criticize government?

A retired service member is not like a guy who retired from general Motors. A retired service member is still in the service, he is just considered inactive, he can still be punished under Uniform code of military justice because they are getting compensation. I was considered disloyal when I talked bad about Gen. Petraeus, so why can E9 retired Pendry talk bad about the Commander in Chief? Why was I called disloyal when I exercised my right to the first
amendment?

If they committed an offence while on active duty they can be brought back to active duty and court marshalled.

What about article 89. If what you have been writing about a fellow soldier was brought to his attention, you could be charged with that pretty easily.

My point is that you are a disloyal turd for talking sh1t about one of your own on a public forum, but obviously you see nothing wrong with that.

well x2, you are right and wrong. by joining the armed forces you volentarily gave up your constitutional rights to serve under the ucmj. however you are correct about a retired armed forces member. they still are under the ucmj because they are recieving a military paycheck still.

Then I'll ask you to explain the uniform code of military justice, by retiring from the service, you lose your first amendment right to question the government? To speak critically of Senators? Or to say negative things about an ex-President?

If that's the case, does that apply to the handful of retired military men who ran for office in 2004, like Jim Webb, who were extremely hostile towards President Bush? What about John Murtha? He's a Congressman who has not only said ugly things about the last sitting President, the military leadership, but he's also said in Time magazine that the Marines were killing people "in cold blood" in Haditha.

Is he subject to the UCMJ?

Perhaps you're right and it's simply not enforced. I find it difficult to believe. And in essence, you're position the 100% polar opposite of what Catmech is saying. He's saying that they've "earned the right"- you're basically saying "they lost it" because of the commitment.

let me correct myself:
In addition to servicemembers, several other categories of individuals may be tried by courts-martial including retired members of a regular component of the armed forces entitled to pay;

But please show me one retiree who has been CM'd for making political statements such as his.

I am sure there are far far more people charged with article 89 for saying the types of things you said.

And I wasnt the only one that called you on it. I distinctly remember someone else saying you should be ashamed.

what have you done for our country and govnt.
Am I seeking your approval or validation?
Nope.

anyone can critisize the government and it doesnt bother me. it bothers me when people are attacked for their views and beat into submission. there were governments that did this very same thing as i recall. nazi germany of ww2, and comunist soviet union just to name 2.

What are you taking offense to?
If you make a statement in a debate/discussion forum, you should expect to have it challenged. That's not "attacking" or "beating into submission." That's political discourse. And it's people like YOU, who have contributed little, but insist on making a point or seeking to elicit a response that contribute to the negative atmosphere here.

And if you were sincerely worried about those tactics used by the government, I'd advise you check the news.
It's happening all around you, but it's not coming from people who share my view of the country.

But your hero Mr. pendry who is living of his military retirement is under the same label as I. Read up on you regulations, I didnt make E-6 in five years by not reading andf i get looked at for e-7 next year.

Nobody talked bad about you except when you bragged about how many abortions you had paid for.

As I recall, your criticism of Bush consisted of calling him a liar and a murderer, neither of which are true. You used false arguments and we objected to the substance of your arguments. Not one time did anybody attack you for criticizing Bush while in uniform.

this thread isnt about abortions so that will need to be discussed some where else. however chad, no that article is hardly ever used for that purpose if ever. it is fact though.

Fossten, you are in business that doesn't concern you, My and chadly were referring to me calling Gen Petreaus, Gen Betrayus, he said I had no loyalty, and someone else said I should be ashamed (read Chadly's post at 8:29pm)

This reminds me of an old saying, this is a Cadillac and Lincoln conversation, you should escort yourself out :p

LOL, nice puns.

X2, I have been seaarching for hours, and havent found one person that has been charged for any infractions of the UCMJ for actions after retirement. Have you found any?

I think after you retire, they pretty much leave you alone and let you live your life/speak your mind. J.D. Pendry is a published writer, and most of his stuff is exactly like what I posted in the OP.

zzzzzzz....

Sergeant Major Pendry is retired and has every right to speak out against what he believes is wrong with the leadership of this country.
