ok everyone hopefully you can all laugh like we did, even though its not 100% funny, but it is funny. so, Rich ( my great 8 ) and our buddy Elliot brought me up a really clean opal white 97 lsc with black interior, it has no engine or trans, so they bought this other car that i was gonna use the engine and trans out of, but we decided not to because then engine was making a noise at certain rpm's, so, i cleaned up the headlights, fixed the rear brakes and replaced the damaged hood with one i had, and through a different trunk lid on it and they took it back to ft lauderdale tonight. they trailered the car to my shop from orlando, so no one really knew if the car would make it to ft lauderdale but Rich wasnt scared. well he calls me a few hours ago to let me know how the trip was going so far, he was stopped at a gas station while talking to me and the car was running, when they left my shop they had the oil changed and the motor purred like a kitten, the noise was gone totally and hasnt come back, anyway its running at the gas station and he says to me , hmmm, its running hot now all the sudden, as he is telling me this i am suddenly taken back to friday night when i was working on the car, i had the key on and the battery charger hooked to it and the electric fan was running non stop, so i unplugged it, well i never plugged it back in, WOOPS!!!, so by this time he is back on 75 and the temp dropped to normal again. i said pull over and plug the fan in i forgot to plug it back in, so he says ok i'll get Elliot's attention and pull over, i'll call you back later, ok we hang up. before the rest of the story i will post pics of the car, it is very rough, and awhile back the owner tried listing it here and craigslist. they litterally got this car for dirt, remember, this was only going to be a parts car so its rough looking....

that rear caliper was using the piston as a brake pad, it was almost down to the fins on the rotor lmfao. so anyway back to the novel, rich gets back home an hour ago and calls me and tells me after he plugged the fan back in, they both took off like a bat out of hell and all the sudden rich hears this loud smack and cant see the road in front of him, this is where he must tell the rest of the story because i thought he was yankin my chain but i believe him now, and he said he'll post pics to prove it, but we were laughing about it because the trip was going so good until this, Rich you better not puss out, no one is gonna make fun of you, but hopefully they can laugh with us!!! if the car wasnt a terd, the rest of the story wouldnt be funny, but all things considered..............

It appeared as though the hood was closed. Up to this point, Inever went over 2500 rpm. (I already drove approx 225 miles). The noise was gone, the fan was plugged in, and I only had about 150 miles to go. I wanted to see what the car would do. I floored it out of the gas station onto an empty road. When it shifted from first to second, the car jerked, the hood flew up, and I was instantly hit with thousands of microscopic pieces of glass!! I immediately stuck my head out the window, pulled over and slammed the hood down ASAP. I just wanted to get out of there before a local cop showed up. The car isn't registered or insured. So driving the rest of the way was entertaining watching the windshield flex back and forth everytime I passed a car. In all my years of driving, I have NEVER had a hood fly up on me. To add insult to injury, when I got home, the driver's side front wheel was wet inside the rim. It has a bad brake line. Without Jamie I would have never had the opportunity to have such a fun trip home. Thanks man!!

lmfao!!! Wait, no, I can't... honestly I'd have dirty undies if that would happen to me... That sucks Rich. I gotta pass by this weekend to see the car though!

I`ve never had a hood fly up either. I have had one fly off though, suprisingly I was able to straighten it out afterwards.

Hopefully it will be sold by this weekend. It may not look the best, but it definately is reliable and rides pretty good also.

did you guys have a windshield put in today?

The windshield was ordered today. It will be in tomorrow. I fixed the gas leak 100% I think. Fixed the plastic in the shifter, put in a radio, Installed speakers in the driver's door, and put on a new door panel. It's amazing how much better it looks with a new panel. Once it has a new windshield and vacuumed, it can officialy earn a new title......polished turd!!

lol, Awsome story. Maybe... the new owner will get all into his Mark VIII and venture over to this sight so he can learn more about the car from the forum... and find some history on it :p

Honestly though, from the pictures the car doesn't look too bad. Sure it needs a paintjob and I'm sure from the looks of the exterior the interior is a little "worn" but all in all, seems like a decent project. :)

a coat of paint would do wonders for it, it really does run and shift awesome it has a good drivetrain in it, the hid's are factory and work awesome, i put the snowflakes and good tires on it, it really just needs some attention, but would make a decent project for someone who wants a mark and doesnt have tons of cash.

One of two types of people will buy it.

1-Someone who wants a cheap Gen II Mark as a project they can drive.

2-Someone who needs a reliable car for point A-B and has no idea what it is.

I will keep you posted. Thanks again Jamie.

If I had the cash I'd rip it off your hands. Why not? These cars are fun to work on & surprisingly fast! Plus I've always wanted a Gen II & I love project cars but I can't even afford fixing my gen I let alone another car!

I'll trade ya!!! It has a brand new windshield and strut rod bushings!! LOL. Come on over and drive it. The Flowmaster mufflers really sound good.

Hahaha... Good one! Dude, my 93 only has 102,000 miles, it has a decent paint job & that 2 toned interior! The only way I would consider trading my 93 is for a Gen II in SIMILAR condition with very similar mileage!:D

Ummm you know I was kidding......I would have to have you committed if you even considered that offer. Just come over and have some fun with it until I find a new owner. It can be driven now without pieces of glass hitting you!
