A local guy is selling some wheels for pretty cheap...they came off of a 2001 Chrysler Concorde...I talked to a rim shop and they said for 20" Wheels I need 5x4.25 or bolt pattern and about high offset +35-40mm would work so I checked out a Chrysler Concorde and it says they have 5x114.3 so these wouldnt work, correct?

The LS has a 5x108mm bolt pattern and the stock offset is 60mm. You might be able to use wheel adapters to use another bolt pattern.

I really need that high of an offset? The guy from the rim shop said...yep +40mm should work, I also found another set from a guy with a CTS on the net but I dont know how to check other bolt patterns...

I have seen others use wheels with offsets as low as +35 and they can work. Just remember that the lower the offset, the more they move outward in the wheel well. You can see how much by using the calculator at http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp . Also a wider rim will impact the clearances even with the proper offset.

I'm sure you realize it, but wheel offset is about more than just clearance in the wheel well--it's also about suspension geometry. Changing the offset also changes the stresses on the suspension; when you go from a 60mm offset to a 35mm offset, that's an inch of difference, which is quite a bit in suspension terms.

For my part, I wouldn't ask a wheel salesman about this, I'd go to a suspension shop.

Agree! This whole area of wheel offset is very complicated and has far more implications than wheel clearances. That is why I went to a custom wheel that while being .5" wider, had an offset from center of +49mm. This effectively added much less to the suspension load compared to the commonly available +35mm offset wheel at most wheel shops.

So your saying I should go with a 20x.8 or 20x8.5 with a higher offset than like 40?

NO, I am not recommending 20" wheels. What I am saying is you must decide based on all of the factors presented in this thread. Just because the wheel fits does not mean that you are not making trade offs in other areas such as suspension loading and bearing loading. What ever decision you make, that is not stock, will involve trade offs. Either the trade offs are worth it to you or they are not. In my case I did not want to trade off more than that which was necessary to go to 18" x 8" wheels with an offset of +49mm. Others in this forum have made bigger trade offs and are happy with the results. Just be aware of all of the factors involved when you alter the rim size, width and offset.

Well ride quality will suffer due to larger wheels and smaller tires but this car is just a regular old daily driver so its nothing special...I just want to get some nice 20" wheels and was wondering what offset you guys would recommend...
