This morning when I slow down on the parkway the brake pedal pulsates and the steering wheel shakes.Does this mean the rotors need to be cut,or replaced,or is it something else.thanks

I'd say they need to be taken off and spun. Depending on how old they are they could need replacing.

I had my 95 spun last month. Made a whole world of difference. I need to replace the rotors on my 93.
 
if the steering wheel shakes, machene the front rotors if there is enough left to cut them if you go to thin the caliper wont grab the rotor enough for a "panic stop" if you feel the vibration in your butt it is the rears, 90% of the time its the front rotors
 
Machining rotors is a waste of time and money. All you are doing is removing valuable material from the rotors, material that makes the rotors resistant to warping, cracking and fading.

In addition, new pads should always go with new rotors. Why put on a new suit and 3 day old underwear?

If you want, I can DEEP FREEZE(tm) you a set of rotors for the Mark along with pads that will have increased stopping power, will make less noise, will not vibrate and will have way less dust.

PM if interested and I'll give you a quote for both the front end and the back.
 
What do you guys think SLOTTED or DRILLED ROTORS are they any good for the mark8,I went into similar threads Its all for lincolnLS
 
I just put d\s rotors on last weekend. So far Very little brake dust, and no noise watsoever. I got them from Rotorworks.

As far as Getting the rotors turned, some people cant afford to spend $70 a pop for 1 front rotor (advanced auto parts). I do agree its not the best or safest way to go, but it is defiantely the cheapest. Which is why I upgraded my rotors, ended up being less money.
 
These cars are very sensitive to rotor vibes, I've read it many places. Its likely the prob. With a slap on rotor you have to be very thorough when putting now rotors on. Any crap between the hub and the rotor results in a vibration. Even new ones will have a problem if the mating surface isn't cleaned perfect. Also just changing a tire, can free up rust a cause a shake.
 
I have a set of KVR cross drilled rotors on the 98, and have NO problem with warping. Next set I get will also get Cryo'd. I would look in to the KVR's if I were you.

There is nothing wrong with having your rotors turned as long as they are within the tolerance. You dont need to change rotors when you replace the pads either. I have never heard any such thing before.

I have. Only every brake shop in town says that so they can sell you new rotors every time you buy pads.

Normally you would have a good point with that comment. The problem is, the sheer weight of the mark combined with the lack of total swept area on the rotors. The thinner you get on the discs, the less material you have to fight warping.


As cheap as new rotors are for these cars, I just replace them when I have any sign of warpage.
