Alright heres the deal:

the other day i started getting a violent mis-fire. during acceleration and at idle and while trying to free rev the engine

today i replaced all 8 plugs (Autolite Platinum, no NGKs in stock)
and replaced one of the coil on plug wires that was cracked.

started the car up, idles smooth, revs smooth in park. took it around the block a few times at 1/5th throttle, runs fine.
took it onto a 55mph avenue and at 1/2 throttle she starts missing really bad again.
all of the C.O.P's look factory except for the 1 i replaced tonight.
should i replace all of them? or am i looking in the wrong place?
i'm thinking replace more C.O.P's because replacing 1 made a noticable difference...
thanks guys

if its running really rough it should throw a check engine light that should tell you if its just a cylinder misfire, o2 sensor , or maf sensor.

yeah it's definatly a mis-fire.
very consistent now, does it all the time at any throttle range at any RPM

does it way worse at lower RPM (like when it shifts from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4) then it wont move and i have to downshift it just to accellerate.

i am waiting for the check engine light but none yet.

at idle the whole car shakes and sounds like :q:q:q:q

your cel does not have to be on to have a code get it scaned and see if there are any codes stored .. good luck

Hmm mines doing the same thing let me know what the problem is I put some fuel injector cleaner in it and it seemed to clear it up a bit but we will see im gonna put the 30lb injectors in it tomorrow

My '93 did the same thing. I cleaned sensors, changed plugs(they had 90,000 mi and looked like new), changed fuel filter, cussed, drove it hard to try and clear it up, cussed more, added cleaners and overpriced gas, nothing worked. It had a SLIGHT miss that was annoying and varied to a bigger miss. I finally broke down and installed spark plug wires. It ran like new. It didn't miss like a plug wire and pulling them one at a time didn't tell me anything. I hated spending the money and not knowing but I figured it was due a tune up anyway. I got them from the dealer for ~$100 because I knew a parts guy. They ranged from 150-250 at parts stores and the internet. I always wonderred why guys kept telling me the dealer got $400 for a tune up. The plugs I got from AutoZone. Improved design over the originals and were 1/4 the cost as the dealers. By the by I called 4 dealers and got 4 different prices on plugs alone. What world are these guys living in?
Dave.

i wish it was as easy as replacing the wires. this thing has a seperate coil for every cylinder, which are $38 a piece at Autozone. if i had tons of money, sure just drop it off at the dealer and take a hit.

i got a P0302 code today (cylinder 2 mis-fire) so i will replace that coil and see what happens.

fuel filter is the next step

that sounds like it will fix it, if any of the boots have oil on them they will fall apart, ypu can get just the boots for around $12ea from the dealer, even if it dont its good to have a spair
