so,i got a navigator with 111000 miles...when i brought it home the check engine light was on and it had very rough idle, then when i drove it the light was flashing indicating a misfire and the driving was terrible,so i tooked it to autozone for a check engine light test,it came up with cylinder #8 misfire...ok then, that night i pulled out the coils and cleaned some moisture off them...#8 plug was black,so i did a tune up,i also tested the coils and they fired fine,i also pulled out #8 injector out and there was no change in idle, the flashing light stopped but was still on,the rough idle was slightly smoother(still rough thou)...so i pulled out the throtle body and it was filthy wit oil,,,so,i put seafoam in it and it smoke like a train!..after the seafoam the rough idle was almost gone, but its still in there...i still havent done a compression test, i really dont think that the #8 cylinder has no compression,i mean its only 111000 miles and its a 2001,,,the exhaust shakes and the tailpipe has a strong gas odor wich leads me to believe that it may have a bad injector(stock open or not firing right),its also idling at about 650 rpm,im puzzled and i need all the replies i can get! PLEASE HELP, GUYS!

so i guess no one is going to help me with this one....come on guys!!!!

allright,i found out whats wrong wit my navigator...low compression on cylinder #8,only 50 psi. rough idle cause: burnt exhaust or intake valve...remedy:take cylinder head off and replace valve or replace entire cylinder head...cost:im getting estimates of about $2000,but nobody wants to do it because these engines need a special cam tool to set the timing of the valvetrain, thi set of tools cost $600, i agreed with a very good mechanic that i will buy the tools and he'll do the job. oh yeah i will fix this bitch no matter wat!

You can probably resell the tool down the road and recoup some loot. Not a bad route to get the Nav fixed.

I thought you could rent tools that expensive? Maybe you could look into that? Of course, I could be wrong.
