Anyone know where to get Royal purple cheep? Best i got is $6.49 @ qt. Any online sites cheeper or if your in the area, any stores?

Just use Mobil 1, it's the best oil that's sold everywhere.

It's unnecessary to spend that kind of coin on a daily driver IMHO. I only use it in the silver car which gets driven MAYBE 2000 miles on a good year.

I . . . agree.

I use it in all my cars. I figure it doesnt hurt.

From Royal Purple's Website:

Increased Horsepower and Torque
Royal Purple's motor oil typically increases horsepower and torque by 1.5% - 3.0%. Performance can be improved further by using Royal Purple products throughout a vehicle (i.e. engine oil, transmission fluid, differential fluid, etc.). (Visit our test summary page for independent test results that document these performance gains.)

Reduced Fuel Consumption
Royal Purple's motor oil typically reduces fuel consumption by 3.0% - 5.0%. Performance can be improved further by using Royal Purple products throughout a vehicle (i.e. engine oil, transmission fluid, differential fluid, etc.). (Visit our test summary page for independent test results that document these performance gains.)

Reduced Emissions
Royal Purple's motor oil typically reduces emission particulates by more than 20%. Reducing emissions helps to reduce pollution and our impact on the environment. (Visit our test summary page for independent test results that document these performance gains.)

Fewer Oil Changes Needed
Royal Purple's oxidation stability extends service life beyond conventional lubricants. Fewer oil changes save time and money.

If the above is true - it'll pay for itself.....

Been through this type of discussion on CF a hundred times. The general consensus is that royal purple, amsoil, etc is all hype. And most of us believe anything more than dino oil is overkill for most daily drivers, with a possible exception if you drive in extreme temps.

well you guys all know how i drive, youve seen the vids. IMO its a good oil, its been recomended to me by many people that drive/build/work on hi po cars. Jw if theres any place cheeper than peppy.

I use Mobile one, but checked at my local auto parts and they want $7.85 (for Racing -11, what ever that is) a quart - yikes.

What you believe and what is true.........................

What you believe and what is true are two very different and distinct truths. First off, let me say that I do not sell oil, nor do I work for anyone that does. Here is a link to a study that was done that may give you a few more facts as to the proper choice of oil for your car.

Even though "Dino" oils may be sufficient for your vehicle, why would you simply settle for sufficient when there are better oils available that will actually make your engine live a longer life. The anti-wear characteristics of synthetics has been scientifically proven time and time again. And with the extended drain intervals that synthetics give you, the cost is very competitive.

You know K-mart branded tires are sufficient, so why do you guys buy more expensive tires?? Just putting something in because it is sufficient is not good enough for my vehicles. I run nothing but Mobile 1, or Amsoil and have never, ever, had an oil related failure on any vehicle that I have ever owned. And I am very hard on my vehicles. I just can't believe that anyone who owns a luxury sport vehicle would settle for sufficient. These things are not Festiva's.

What's the opinion of the semi-synthetics? Good compromise or rip off?

I believe that they are good for older cars.............

Especially 60's and 70's cars with older cars that need petroleum based products to keep seals from becoming brittle. They are a compromise in newer cars that usually do not come with the extended drain intervals of full synthetics. I also use Castro Syntec Blend when I raced a 1970 442. It gave me the dino oil for the seals, and the synthetic for that added wear protection.
