“I was shocked to learn of the comment made by President Obama about Special Olympics,” Governor Palin said. “This was a degrading remark about our world’s most precious and unique people, coming from the most powerful position in the world.

“These athletes overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity than most of us ever will. By the way, these athletes can outperform many of us and we should be proud of them. I hope President Obama’s comments do not reflect how he truly feels about the special needs community.”

And just for those people who have been living under a rock today:

It would appear that he is poking fun at his own ability at bowling rather than anything else. Not sure why anyone would take offence, I am sure nobody who participates in the Special Olympics would.

All I can think of is the South Park where Cartman fakes being retarded to compete in the Special Olympics and gets his ass handed to him lols....

Yeah, right. Just imagine if George Bush or Rush Limbaugh had said that.

Making fun of his own ability by comparing it to the special olympics. Yeah, that's offensive. And you're dense for not seeing it.

It would appear that you take as much pleasure in giving offence as you do in taking it, unlike any of the Special Olympics participants that I have the pleasure of knowing.

zzzzzzz....oh, I'm sorry, were you making an argument? I must have missed it. Darn.

Don't presume to know anything about me since you've only been here a short while. You will fail.

Even in that short a time it has become apparent that the self righteousness of your indignation is only surpassed by that of your posts.

And it seems pretty apparent that you're willing to make any excuse necessary to keep your lips firmly planted on Barack's behind.

It was an insult plain and simple. And degrading also. And I hope Barack has the balls to take on the Special Olympics bowler. The only difference between the two bowlers that I can see is that one will be able to bowl. Otherwise, it appears they will be evenly matched. And nobody can even play the race card. Imagine that.

Really? You've taken the time to read ALL of my posts?

You need to get a life, then. I promise you, getting a hardon for me won't profit you anything. You're better off finding a hobby.

It was meant as a joke, but it was also a very wrong thing to say. I have to agree with Foss on this cause they do have enough day to day crap they go through and we really do live in a cruel world, last thing they need is to hear acomment like that from our President. +1Foss:)

no, it was a joke, plain and simple. and if you didn't listen carefully, you would have missed it.
Figures that the godless, angry atheist would find humor in mocking the disabled. Vehr do vee go from heah, Mein Fuhrer?

Even Obama recognized he had said a bad thing. If it was just a joke, why did he apologize?

I know if I was President I wouldnt have time to go bowling, especially in the state we are in. Plus, its obviously not a favorite hobby of his if he sucks at it... How will the crazy Liberals defend this Special Olympics comment I wonder??? :p

So do you defend Rush's "Obama the magic negro" That was a "joke" according to Rush, he did apologize!

It wasn't Rush's "Barak the magic negro", it was the LA times. You really should have some clue what you are talking about, otherwise you just make a fool of yourself, as you just did.

Also, when did Rush "apologize"?

*owned*

You are right Mr. Shag, he apologized for comparing Obama to Curious George, who happens to be a monkey.

He laughed, then apologized!

Once again, you're wrong. He apologized ON BEHALF OF THE CALLER, who said his DAUGHTER compared Obama to Curious George.

Do you know how to read?

So, at any rate, we have fired the caller, Tammy. We're not going to put up with this on this program. We're not going to tolerate this kind of stuff on the program, and I do officially apologize to both Senator Obama and to Senator McCain. Why aren't you apologizing to Hillary? Well, she's probably happy it happened. I guess I better apologize for saying that. You see, ladies and gentlemen, I'm doing this as an illustration for you of how really uptight and tense everybody is going to be with any kind of criticism of Barack Obama on the Republican side. I think we may set a record in this upcoming campaign. If Obama is the nominee, we may set a record for the number of apologies to him and his campaign by various Republicans and so forth. So that's that. I regret that it happened. I can't use the McCain excuse that I wasn't here, because I was here. I know, I'm here, but I'm not really here. It was coming up on a hard break, and -- ha-ha, being polite to the caller. [/quote

By the way, where was your outrage over Maureen Dowd making fun of Obama's ears?

I accept defeat!

But he did air the song, am i correct?
Yes, the song was designed to mock the LA Times. Have you actually heard it?

[In the voice of Al Sharpton]

Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
‘Cause he’s not authentic like me.
Yeah, the guy from the L.A. paper
Said he makes guilty whites feel good
They’ll vote for him, and not for me
‘Cause he’s not from the hood.

See, real black men, like Snoop Dog,
Or me, or Farrakhan
Have talked the talk, and walked the walk.
Not come in late and won!

Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
‘Cause he’s black, but not authentically.
Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
‘Cause he’s black, but not authentically.

Some say Barack’s “articulate”
And bright and new and “clean.”
The media sure loves this guy,
A white interloper’s dream!
But, when you vote for president,
Watch out, and don’t be fooled!
Don’t vote the Magic Negro in –
‘Cause —

’Cause I won’t have nothing after all these years of sacrifice
And I won’t get justice. This is about justice. This isn’t about me, it’s about justice.
It’s about buffet. I don’t have no buffet and there won’t be any church contributions,
And there’ll be no cash in the collection plate.
There ain’t gonna be no cash money, no walkin’ around money, no phoning money.
Now, Barack going to come in here and ........

Rush laughed at the joke! then apologized on behalf of the caller, why didn't he apologize for laughing? So he caused more harm than Obama comparing his bowling skills to the "special olympics", at least Obama apologized!

OFF TOPIC:Fossten I might be moving out to louisville to recruit, can i get some info on good and bad areas out the way.

What do you mean, he didn't apologize? You just read the transcript.

Anyway, you're proving my point, which is that there is massive outrage when Limbaugh says or does something even remotely offensive, while the lefties defend Obama when he insults disabled people.

OT: Recruit what?

Rush's own words!

"I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark"

Now if this isn't extremely offensive, what is?
