does anyone have any pics of a flat/satin/hotrod/ black first gen i am about to paint mine and i am thinking satin black with boss 338 satin black wheels with a polished lip and a red pinstripe
 
Sounds sexy... I might do that to my ivory pearl 98... the color isnt growing on me that much yet.
 
I don't know about a satin color, maybe some satin accents, like the rockerpanels, but you do realize you cannot wax satin color, so you would have a bitchin time keeping it clean

In all seriousness, if you are going for a hotrod look then it would be a neat touch.

I used to ONLY like stockish looking Marks but the more I see cars like lsc8's and 96LSC's cars with the two or tri tone paints and agressive wheels and such I realize thats the Hotrods of our times! They did the same stuff with 10 year old Lincolns back in the day and its neat seeing my generation continue the style but with newer cars. So I am interested in seeing how yours turns out. :)

you can if you use a base clear. they make a satin clear so you can buff it it is just more expencive. i am thinking of leaving all the chrome on the car and just striping the face of the lip on the wheel with red. or possably doing a black chrome on all the chrome accents but that is more $. i thimk i can do it myself this week for about $600 not including wheels. just paint the snowflakes for now. i have so much to do in one week and only have $1500

i still need to rebuild the front suspension. what is you guys opinion on ebay package parts i found everything for the front end for like $300
 
Do NOT get the ebay special for front end parts! Bad bad bad bad bad bad...

Go to Max or Rock Auto and get TRW/OEM
 
There has only been one mark 8 either a 97 or 98. He was/is from texas. It was flat black some pin stripes a 6" inch cowl hood on stock black wheels. All pic have been removed unless someone has one saved or you are good enuff to find one on the interweb. He said he had a big project motor for it but he drop off the mark 8 scene long ago. Just go for it.
 
i was toying around with doing something like this with mine...but i'll leave out details because if i do it i want to just drop jaws, not show all my cards right now if you catch my drift ;)
 
there was a guy on cardomain with a flat black gen 1. if i wernt so lazy id go find it for you, but your a big boy, go find it yourself. lol.
 
just talked to the paint guy today it will be flat black with ghost flames on mon.

p.s. i purchased all mouge upper/lower control arms, inner and outer tie rods and front sway bar end links through a friend whom runs a carquest for $425 otd my 1.25 addco barz will also be installed by me tomorrow with the greasable poly mounts

and my exaust guy is doing me a 2.5 in 3rd cat delete single x pipe true dual exaust with 40s blowmasters for 200

all i need now is 3.73 trakloc diff for like $20 LOL

i feel like a kid at christmas!!!!!!! can not wait for it to all be done. HOT ROD LINCOLN
 
Agreed but it's his car. Make it how you like it.

Like someone told me once talking about an 87 Cutlass with 24's and 10k in glittery paint “There just preserving it for us down the line when someone can actually do it right"
 
update

man this car is a pita to work on. it is currently siting on the lift with the subframe and gass tank on the floor. I am going to delk performace in the morning for the 255 walbro and some lock collars for the front sway bar. I have found so many other gremlins that paint might have to hold off, just maby if all goes well with the frontend fuel pump all new fluids and i can finish tomorrow. i might be able to do it,

here is the scheme. I am going for a rat rod look. flat black body with a well done set of ghost flames in gloss.(no crab claws) i was thinking of doing all the chrome in black chrome.if you have ever seen a roush blackack stang in person the wheels are black chrome. i might just be forced to polish all of it for now. due to the lack of $ and recent gremlins.

man i wish i had a set of kooks while i have this damn subframe down!!!!
 
one more thing

opinions are like buttholes we all have them and eventually they all stink.
 
Rat Rods have patinad paint and chop tops. They also have very little to no interior and have surface rust.

You are not going Rat Rod, you are going Hot Rod.

so i spent another 400 today. so i dont think i can pull off the paint. i will be driving to mainsfield tx. on mon. or tues. i hate to spend all this money and have this car look so bad. SUX.... back to the shop to put he 255 walbro in and reassemble the car. has anyone ever run the swaybar without the locking collars? i can not find them anywhere and must leave on mon.

your right hot rod not rat rod.
