LVCs girls decided to go out for an hour or two of shopping while the boys played with toys.....welllll

I found a cute little wall vase (aka wall pocket), dropped a hefty 1.99 for it... come to find out, it's more than just a vase! It's a Rookwood!!!! The fact that it was a wall vase is what attracted me, then the "VIII" of it's "mark XXVIII" was a had to have... what can I say lol.

Welllll come to find out it is a:

"A beautiful and hard to find Rookwood Production Ware wall pocket, designed by Kataro Shirayamadani (1865-1948), produced in 1928, featuring an embossed diamond design and gorgeous green mat glaze. Condition is mint, with unblemished interior and exterior. This very special Rookwood production wall pocket is marked with Rookwood’s flame mark, “XXVIII”.

The artist has held up even over the bad economy, a 6" vase by him just sold for over 1,100.00 on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Early-Katar...y-Vase-1887-White-Clay-Japanese-/350492882583

This 14" vase scored 60g in 2007! http://antiquesandthearts.com/Antiques/AuctionWatch/2007-01-23__10-44-48.html

oh yeah - the meet was good too!

Hmmm, time to go on Antiques Roadshow. If this piece came up at auction, it would sell for maybe 3k to 5k retail. LOL :)

thanks 8!

The best finds are things my friends have mentioned they want. A girlfriend mentioned these cute whimsical little chimes, she said her mom used to always set one up at Christmas. It's little angels suspended on a wheel that had a small clapper hanging from them, the angels would spin around, fueled from the candles heat with the clapper hitting two bells, making a wonderful little chiming sound. We had them when I was growing up too. Well, I was looking thru some toys in a thrift store, low and behold I found a small box, it was the very same unopened chime set, like brand new! I paid 50 cents for it - I can't wait to give it to her - she will flip. lol - honestly it is hard for me not to take it out of it's original unopened packaging and listen to the little angels chime as they go around and around... it's not the price - it's the memories ;)
