scorched mark

Looks like they actually built a bonfire or something on it. It was dragged to where it is sitting, it didnt burn there.

melting point of aluminium is like 1200 degrees. something crazy happened to get aluminium hot enough to run like that.

I know when my 94 burned in the garage, the drivers side Octi melted a flat spot in the wheel. I'm just glad it didn't have time to spread to the rest of the car. The firemen saved my interior and I was able to use it in the 95. The odometer was melted enough to make it unreadable. They were spraying it with water within 4 min after the explosion happened.

Looks like some kind of catalyst was used to burn this car down for the engine block to just "melt", which I would imagine wouldn't happen under a normal car fire...I could be wrong.

If it was a forest fire that would do it. Sustained heat and the tires are your catalyst.

That sucks, that's why if you live in the middle of a bunch of fire wood you should make a fire break.

A chainsaw and a couple weekends worth of work may have helped save all that :(

I would so LOVE to have those aluminum puddles. I would hang them in my shop!

THAT JUST MADE ME RUN OUT TO DISCONNECT THE PLUG FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH...:eek::eek:

lol, you haven't taken it in to be fused yet? It only takes them 10 min or so and you're out of there, on their account! If you ever sell the car, you'll have that paper, showing you had the recall taken care of. Potential buyers do look to see what kind of recalls a car has had and if it's shown that you had it done and documented, it might put the buyer at ease. I'm never selling mine but I did take it and have it done. A lot of guys done theirs themselves but I feel better with documentation from Ford.
